Early sunrise shot of the pool. Just so happen that there was A LOT OF blue bottle jellyfish washing up so i had to do a bid of dodging about taking this shot….No harm done!!!

Icon #2 Point Ormond I am doing a St Kilda/ Elwood icon series. / I wanted to get the Point Ormond beacon. But when I climbed up there last night I realised the base had recently been encased in concrete and it looks horrible. / So I wandered down to the beach and took a shot of the city from Elwood with the beacon in the top right hand corner. / Calypso’s Quest by Karin Taylor / from the Beach Stuff Series / this is mixed media collaged piece / i have used acrylics and guache, watercolours, cut out paper / to form the sails and the hull This song is about the ship Calypso, which was bought by Jacques-Yves Cousteau and converted to an oceanographic ship. Cousteau wanted to understand “The silent world” better, in order to protect it. “To live on the land we must learn from the sea” – Cousteau was the first to do research on pollution and its effects on the sea and received many honors for his accomplishments. John Denver cared deeply about nature and this song was a tribute to both Calypso and her captain and their valuable work. Pulu Beras or “Prison Island”, Cocos Islands. Sure floats my boat….(for Gez!) Prison Island got it’s name from it’s small size and it’s inaccessibility during high tide unless on a boat. Last century, the tiny island was owned by Alexander Hare. He lived here in the only house on the island with something like 12 women and a heap of children…..what a life!
