This morning was a gorgeous morning to be up and about…. 5AM and I was wondering the rocks of North Narrabeen in just a T-shirt. Not a cloud in the sky, not a puff of wind, hardly a swell in sight. Not the best conditions for seascape photography, but a lovely morning to be up and about enjoying the Spring weather. Did manage to take this photo of North Narrabeen Rock Pool. Love the old textured planks around the pool.

A sunrise such as this is a rare event. Good fortune found me in one of favourite spots that morning. A primeval atmosphere seems to pervade the image. One could imagine a similar scene millions of years ago.

Rock formations at low tide. Taken with my 5D and the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM lens. This is a 82mm lens and I am currently using Cokin Filters (handheld).....uuuuurrgh. I am very keen to get a Lee Neutral Density Filter set. If you have this setup I would be very interested to hear from you what experiences you have made in regards to vignetting and what Lee components you have mounted on your lens. Thanks heaps

A rock’s eye view of the loch of lowes – I think this has a certain messy charm compared with the more pristine perfection of ‘loch of the lowes’ or ‘LoL’ Let me know what you think – comments and tips most welcome Loch of the Lowes lies in the beautiful scottish borders between Moffat and Selkirk. It flows into nearby St Mary’s loch (with its thriving sailing club) past old Tibbieshiels inn, hostelry and overnight stop for walkers on the southern upland way crossing Scotland. Overlooking the north end of the loch is a monument to James Hogg – the Scottish Poet known as the Etterick Shepherd, friend and contemporary of Sir Walter Scott. Taken 4/3/08 (untouched) (there is a 2nd loch of the lowes further north in Perthshire, complete with osprey viewing centre – but you can see the wonderful fish eagle hunting here too if you are lucky!) loch of the lowes’ : ‘LoL’ : / ‘i am a rock’ : /

Explore my banks for something missed by the hosts of those rushing by. They give but a glance and often miss my beauty. Let the rushing today, be my waters as they babble on their way. Let my waters and wind be a song in your ears. Hear the quaking of my leaves as they rustle above you. Close your eyes and let me envelop you. Icon #2 Point Ormond I am doing a St Kilda/ Elwood icon series. / I wanted to get the Point Ormond beacon. But when I climbed up there last night I realised the base had recently been encased in concrete and it looks horrible. / So I wandered down to the beach and took a shot of the city from Elwood with the beacon in the top right hand corner.
