A really lucky capture from a layby at Loch Voil near Balquidder while hubby kept the car engine running! A funny thing happened on the way to Mt. Rainier well before sunrise. I noticed the morning mist rising over Clear Lake and the cirrus clouds fanning out above them and decided that a glorious sunrise on the lake was worth more than a maybe on the mountain. I fumbled my way in the dark via flashlight to the lakes edge and had time to search for composition before the heavens lit up. Not a bad way to start a day at all.

This work was featured in Live, Love, Dream. The background (sky and water) is a photograph of clouds I took during summer 2007 just before sunrise. I never really figured out what to do with it. Another view of Loch of the Lowes which lies in the beautiful scottish borders between Moffat and Selkirk. It flows into nearby St Mary’s loch (with its thriving sailing club) past old Tibbieshiels inn, hostelry and overnight stop for walkers on the southern upland way crossing Scotland. Overlooking the north end of the loch is a monument to James Hogg – the Scottish Poet known as the Etterick Shepherd, friend and contemporary of Sir Walter Scott. Taken 4/3/08 (untouched) (there is a 2nd loch of the lowes further north in Perthshire, complete with osprey viewing centre – but you can see the wonderful fish eagle hunting here too if you are lucky!) / See also ‘loch of the lowes’ and ‘i am a rock’ ‘LoL’

I still have to look so carefully to work out just where the wooden fenceposts stop and the reflections begin… This fencing goes out into the beautiful St Mary’s loch in the scottish borders to mark the boundaries of the thriving sailing club there and to keep the sheep safely in the adjoining fields The loch is three miles long by half a mile wide, set in spectacular surroundings in the middle of the Southern Uplands about 50 miles south of Edinburgh. Taken on the Lake of Two Mountains, Quebec in the village of Oka on Monday June 9/08. This is just past the public docks and ferry system looking towards the west at the marina. The sun was starting to descend and cast a rosy glow on the water. Featured in Stillness Speaks group.
