This weekend I did something very very silly…. / I took my new camera on a jet ski in a plastic container (i.e not waterproof housing) and got some snaps of Port Phillip Bay. We only nearly fell of the jet ski, hmmm…. repeatedly. I hope it was worth it! Thanks to my Jetski driver and all round relaxing company James / Check out joobrien.com.au

My mother has this lovely spirit about her which I have always admired. As children we grew up with my grandfather’s video camera pointed at us and my mother’s point and shoot. At this Christmas just passed, I was taking family photos and became very aware that all the grandchildren were happy to have their photo taken and even went out of their way to pose and give me their attention for a moment. You could see them ‘sense’ when a candid was coming and stop chewing their food. I found it entertaining. But I’m on a tangent! I spent a weekend in McCrae taking photos, eating nice things and going for drives and bike rides. On the last day we headed up one of the local piers and there were quite a few tourists taking advantage of the long weekend. Watching others having their holiday portraits taken I was reminded of how my mother would aim her camera at us and in an attempt to make us smile, yell out in her lovely sing song way “Say Holidays” Thanks to my collab partner James / Check out joobrien.com.au

Rock formations at low tide. Taken with my 5D and the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM lens. This is a 82mm lens and I am currently using Cokin Filters (handheld).....uuuuurrgh. I am very keen to get a Lee Neutral Density Filter set. If you have this setup I would be very interested to hear from you what experiences you have made in regards to vignetting and what Lee components you have mounted on your lens. Thanks heaps

As I sit on the stern of my ship, I think of yester morn when all was good. / We’d traveled a long voyage. / My men grew as mates. / Bounds of treasures we’d found made for a drunkered night. / But of night last, a squall came upon us and two overboard. / As fast as the wind arose, and water rushed over was my men gone. / My ship tossed from port to starboard we hadnt time to turn her a bow. / Till late we search, not a thread to be found. / Not a sail touched, nor a rope broke it was like a dream gone arye. / So i drop these two coins in memberance into the sea, to ye brave men who gave their lives, / and promise to add a share to their families as deserved. / Now its time to set sail homeward….. / Steady as she goes…..through the Calm Sea At Dawn. I shot this at the southern tip of Tasmania around 9pm Daylight savings time. This is a bay called Surveyor’s Bay. Tassie is just so gorgeous. Pristine, untouched (almost) and wonderfully peaceful.
