The Dandenong Ranges (Victoria) are host to many of Melbourne’s most wonderful gardens, landscaped in ways you aren’t likely to find anywhere else in the region. During Autumn, some of these gardens really show themselves off and are a place perfect for quiet reflection and to take in all the beauty of nature.
Sailboat anchored on Lake Michigan in the evening haze. Calm waters allowed a perfect reflection.

Lakes entrance is a fishing port and tourist town located on the Southeastern coast of Victoria, Australia. It is near a natual channel which connects the Gippsland Lakes to Bass Straight. The town has been a popular holiday destination for generations of Victorians, yet has managed to retain its smalltown rural charm. Surfing on the nearby Ninety Mile Beach is a popular attraction, as is fishing from the many piers and bridges in the area. Family entertainment such as minigolf and the popular Shell Museum cater to all ages. This sunset was truly one of the most magnificent I’ve ever seen. Everyone in the town stopped to watch the spectacle and I shot many dozens of photos, trying to capture the glorious warm golden light that flooded the river. This is also my most successful attempt at a High Dynamic Range photo. I took three exposures at different settings to try and capture a broader range of detail in the highlights and shadows, and manually merged them together in photoshop.
Womanhood – something of delicate, / fragile in the hand, / fragile in the mind. / And an imperfect lipstick / (too much kisses, / too much words). A state of mind.

Boats at a waterside cafe in a sunny misty morning
A stunningly calm morning on Llyn Dinas in North Wales with a light mist covering the flat calm surface of the lake, and the warm dawn light illuminating the small boathouse on the bank. View the rest of our portfolio here Or visit our own website here
My regular work often times leaves me feeling like the world is a crazy place. Some days I just have to not talk and not interact with people. Hard to do though as a social worker. This day was one of them. Sitting and watching the water flowers at the conservatory restores my soul. It gives me new strength to see the ugliness as mere shellac over all the beauty inside all of us.

This is one of the first digital paintings I ever did…it’s from a year ago! I might do it differently now, but I love the feel of it and thought I’d bring it out of the “archives” for a few days. Created in Corel Painter Essentials 2, edited in Photoshop Elements 3. /

Bitty, my mum’s cat, is praying for the victims of the horrendous Australian bush fires, as well as all the animals who perished and who are injured as a result of this disaster. She is hoping the quiet, cool calm of this photo will help. Proceeds of the sales of this art piece will go directly to the charities being set up for the relief fund for the animals affected by the fires.
Photographed at Pembroke Dock, Wales one misty Easter morning. The sun was just managing to break through, revealing the very faintest of detail on the water. I could just make out some white blobs in the mist and with autofocus struggling, I managed to capture this quiet, soft, simple image. Canon 10D / 1/125th sec at f14 / 35-135mm Canon EF lens at 135mm / ISO 100 Processing: Cropped and cleaned up in Lightroom, contrast manipulated to enhance detail, gentle unsharp masking.
A very peacefull early morning scene captured on a “family reunion” trip to Little Lake, Michigan in July, 2002. Although this is in the upper peninsula, we still had temperatures in the mid and upper 90’s and I got the worst sunburn of my life. Nikon N90S with Nikkor 80-400mm zoom lens on Fujichrome Provia 100 film. (Shown in black frame with off white matte)
