Photographic based digital montage 2007 (1 from series of 6 – redesigned from 2004/5 Japanese Series). Re-worked combining two from the series. I shot the tree, flowers & combined them in P/S with drawn elements & filtered the lot. Approximately 50 Photoshop layers. Generally I tire of my artwork yet still love this series to this day. The lot 60×60cms are printed on canvas gracing the walls of my home.

This weekend I did something very very silly…. / I took my new camera on a jet ski in a plastic container (i.e not waterproof housing) and got some snaps of Port Phillip Bay. We only nearly fell of the jet ski, hmmm…. repeatedly. I hope it was worth it! Thanks to my Jetski driver and all round relaxing company James / Check out joobrien.com.au

My mother has this lovely spirit about her which I have always admired. As children we grew up with my grandfather’s video camera pointed at us and my mother’s point and shoot. At this Christmas just passed, I was taking family photos and became very aware that all the grandchildren were happy to have their photo taken and even went out of their way to pose and give me their attention for a moment. You could see them ‘sense’ when a candid was coming and stop chewing their food. I found it entertaining. But I’m on a tangent! I spent a weekend in McCrae taking photos, eating nice things and going for drives and bike rides. On the last day we headed up one of the local piers and there were quite a few tourists taking advantage of the long weekend. Watching others having their holiday portraits taken I was reminded of how my mother would aim her camera at us and in an attempt to make us smile, yell out in her lovely sing song way “Say Holidays” Thanks to my collab partner James / Check out joobrien.com.au

This work was featured in Live, Love, Dream. The background (sky and water) is a photograph of clouds I took during summer 2007 just before sunrise. I never really figured out what to do with it. Rock formations at low tide. Taken with my 5D and the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM lens. This is a 82mm lens and I am currently using Cokin Filters (handheld).....uuuuurrgh. I am very keen to get a Lee Neutral Density Filter set. If you have this setup I would be very interested to hear from you what experiences you have made in regards to vignetting and what Lee components you have mounted on your lens. Thanks heaps
