As sure as the sun rises each morning, so it is with God’s Great Faithfulness to watch over, protect and provide for each of us, His children. The dawning of a perfect Autumn day as the sun creeps up through the mist that has settled over Thompson’s Creek, on the historic Charlemont sheep station. Lamentations 3:22-24 (New International Version) / New International Version (NIV) 22 Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, / for his compassions never fail. 23 They are new every morning; / great is your faithfulness. 24 I say to myself, “The LORD is my portion; / therefore I will wait for him. The words to the wonderful old hymn penned back in 1923, still stand testament today! Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father; / There is no shadow of turning with Thee; / Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not; / As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be. Refrain Great is Thy faithfulness! / Great is Thy faithfulness! / Morning by morning new mercies I see. / All I have needed Thy hand hath provided; / Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me! Summer and winter and springtime and harvest, / Sun, moon and stars in their courses above / Join with all nature in manifold witness / To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love. Refrain Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth / Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide; / Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow, / Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside! My mother has this lovely spirit about her which I have always admired. As children we grew up with my grandfather’s video camera pointed at us and my mother’s point and shoot. At this Christmas just passed, I was taking family photos and became very aware that all the grandchildren were happy to have their photo taken and even went out of their way to pose and give me their attention for a moment. You could see them ‘sense’ when a candid was coming and stop chewing their food. I found it entertaining. But I’m on a tangent! I spent a weekend in McCrae taking photos, eating nice things and going for drives and bike rides. On the last day we headed up one of the local piers and there were quite a few tourists taking advantage of the long weekend. Watching others having their holiday portraits taken I was reminded of how my mother would aim her camera at us and in an attempt to make us smile, yell out in her lovely sing song way “Say Holidays” Thanks to my collab partner James / Check out joobrien.com.au

I still have to look so carefully to work out just where the wooden fenceposts stop and the reflections begin… This fencing goes out into the beautiful St Mary’s loch in the scottish borders to mark the boundaries of the thriving sailing club there and to keep the sheep safely in the adjoining fields The loch is three miles long by half a mile wide, set in spectacular surroundings in the middle of the Southern Uplands about 50 miles south of Edinburgh. To preserve the peace and tranquility, only sailing boats use it, apart from the a few small fishing craft and the club rescue boats. / / It is much bigger and deeper than the nearby loch of the lowes Taken 27/4/08 (untouched) / / ps warning to sheep :please don’t try this at home…wet wool weighs! / ; ) / / See also stones in the water / / / / and / under the wire /

In this painting I have endeavored to reduce the landscape down to its absolute minimum, focusing purely on the line of salt-bush on the horizon, with one solitary bird hovering in the air, to give the impression of the raw empty heat of a mid day summer where nothing stirs until l the cool of the evening. . .
