  Ideally you will be… / prepared to give it a go and try something different or even a bit unflattering based in Melbourne, Australia look completely normal or utterly unusual or anything in between accept red wine, love and photos as currency I take my responsibility as a photographer seriously. Prior to a shoot I will talk to you about my ideas, what I want you to do, how I want you and the whole image to look and discuss different options. I aim to create an art piece that best utilizes your particular look and attitude whatever that may be. If you don’t look like a typical model, brilliant. I do not shoot underage models without a parent in attendance and encourage all models to bring a chaperon or friend to shoots. I always encourage models to leave their mobile phones switched on, take regular breaks, tell someone where we will be shooting and when they can be expected home. I provide examples of my work, and models I have worked with previously will happily attest to my not being a scam artist or psycho.   Call For Art / Submission Date Deadline: January 1, 2009 / Exhibit Coordinator: Rhonda Phair / Email contact:aloramyst@hotmail.com The Thunder Bay Historical Museum has been booked for an exhibit and below are listed the particulars of the theme. I am presently looking for other artists that would like to participate in the exhibit. I will be exhibiting my work as well. You do not have to be a local artist to participate and new artists are welcome. If you are interested in participating please contact me as soon as possible. Thank you for considering participating, if you require further information feel free to contact me by email. Do You Believe in Magic/k? Magick has been defined as “The art and science of causing change to occur in conformity with will. An aim of magick is to train the mind by harnessing and making more consciously accessible such higher faculties as intuition, inspiration and the creative imagination, and by drawing on the power of the unconscious. Magick assumes belief in, or rather experience of, subtle energies. Magick tends to work a lot with symbols, as these are the language of the unconscious, and this is an area of tremendous power to tap. Possibly the major difference between magick and many of the religious paths to spiritual growth is that magick is more dynamic, and places the emphasis on you to work for change – there are no gurus in magick, rather there are fellow students with different perspectives and experiences – we learn from each other, as in other areas of life. Some people ask why magick is spelt with a ‘k’ on the end. This is to distinguish it from magic, associated in the popular mind with illusionism and prestidigitation, stage magic. Magick is not about illusion, it is about creating real change, and the ‘k’ signifies this. We are group of artists that are coming together for this exhibit, to provide a contrast and harmony of various expressions of artistic concept of the theme of magick. From expressions of the popular understanding of magic, the illusionism, stage magic to understanding of magick spelt with a “K”, to merge both perceptions into a unified whole. There are a variety of mediums being presented in the show, based in each individual artist’s personal expression. Oils paintings, mixed media, and digital artwork are just to name a few. Working together we will bring forth the different perspectives and experiences in relation to the theme. The artists involved in this exhibition range from emerging artists to established artists. Providing an opportunity to see new artwork, from new artists, as well as viewing some new works from more established favourites. Any donations procured from this exhibit will be donated to the local Charity of Hospice North West, to assist in creating changes to occur locally, in support of those diagnosed with terminal illness, and their families who require palliative care, support and assistance.   Be open minded about your camera gear You can make a tripod for only a few dollars, tracing paper makes a great diffuser and a trip to a hardware store will give you very bright lights. Yes, there are downsides, and for the technically perfect photographer, these suggestions will be a very funny joke. The point here is keep and open mind and try new things before forking out $100 for a piece of shiny material that resembles a $5 dash board cover. Unless you use a biscuit tin to take photos, eventually you will want to buy a new camera. Shop around, get advice, try out a friend’s and when you walk into the shop, don’t spend hundreds of dollars on accessories that you wont’ use. It doesn’t hurt to haggle a bit either. When the salesman tries to close the deal, my typical response is “what else are you throwing in?” Studio Hire So the first question you ask yourself is “Do I know anyone who already has a studio set up?” If the answer is yes. Skip the rest of this section, suck up your pride and ask them if you can visit and have a play. The rest of you, ask yourself what you are paying for. Is it the chance to get a professionally lit shot? Maybe you could try a lighting course that will not only give you many opportunities to work with professional lights, but will teach you the theory and science of lighting. Often these courses are much cheaper than a similar amount of time in a rented studio. Do you want to try shooting in more controlled conditions? Try clearing out a room of your house and setting up a few scenes. The results may not be brilliant but it will give you a sense of how much time you can spend setting a shot up before you get to click the button. If you are certain that a proper studio is for you, consider hiring it out through a camera club for a discounted rate, or hiring it out with a couple of other photographers to minimise your expense. Models and TFP Models and photographers have one thing in common – they both need a portfolio of photos to proceed in their career. This is why Time For Photo shoots have become so popular. But before you jump up and down about using a free model take a second think about what is fair and ethical. At the end of the day, both you and the model should be happy with your arrangement. If someone feels short changed, you should consider modifying your approach. This is my rule of thumb. If a model approaches me to take shots for her portfolio, and I am working to her brief, she should pay me. If we have put our heads together to come up with a project and proceed on equal footing where we both use the images, then neither should pay. And if I conceive and art direct the shoot and have priority over the image rights, I should pay the model. Basically whoever comes out on top should be paying the person who is doing them a favor. Then there are test shoots, these are almost always done on a time for photos basis. These shoots are a bit like ‘warm up’ shoots for the model and photographer to see if they want to work together properly. They are also a chance to test new ideas or equipment. Often the images taken in test shoots are less than great, and if they do turn out, they are most commonly shared equally between all parties. If you are requesting a model release form because you intend to profit from the images, in my opinion, the model should be paid or you should have an arrangement to split any profits. My plan of attack is to put out a call for models. Then I will do a test shoot with the model who has contacted me and we either have equal rights to the shots or split them down the middle. If the test shoot goes well we may arrange to work together again. This might mean doing an even split of “her ideas” and “my ideas” for no payment, or it may be paid work if I am contracted to produce shots for a commercial job.   It appeals to me to make a video of Red Bubble artworks into a video to go on You Tube and other video sites to try and promote our bubbles. I’d like to include works of other Bubblers here on Red Bubble to the video as well. Everyone who contributes some work will have their name / user name / location shown with their work. The video will consist of our works with titles / credits, frame transitions and musical accompaniment. Depending on the response I could make more videos later. Initially let’s say the first 20 people to post a comment to this journal entry will have 3 pieces go in the video.Work goes in the video in order of comment in the cue.   Hey there kids, we here in the big red bubble floating high above the city’s spires have this irrepressible itch to make some kind of advert, a video, a short film if you will, to emphasise and explain all the magical things that redbubble can do for people, trouble is we’re up in a big red bubble floating high above the city spires and it would be completely impossible to make it up here, there’s no power sockets or even a flat surface, just bubble, lots of it. So we need your help. We want to hear ideas for a short clip, from spoof documentary to public acts of insanity, via ridiculous comedy and professional corporate clarity, it just has to grab it’s unsuspecting audience and fling them a brighter world, without giving them an awful lot of other options. At this stage in the proceedings we don’t wish to impose too many guidelines on length/style/timeframe etc. and don’t start making yet, it would be a tragedy to go and film yourself having our logo tattooed on your forehead and then find out we weren’t happy with the camera angle, we just want to hear the colourful concepts nestling within your neurons. However here are a couple of equations to ponder over while you scribble furiously: -More dangerous = Higher chance of court case = Less likely. / -Lavish three part, 9 hour sagas = One year of shooting time = More expensive = Less likely. Other than that go crazy, pitch your treatments to us and maybe, just maybe, you’ll be assisting in the making of the finest advert since that one about the fish. Oh and you might get some cash, yup cash, ahhh now you’re interested. AND when you do come up with some gems, stick them in here in the forums for a better discussion. onetonshadow

  A big Hi to all artists and loyal supporters of my work. / RB is wonderful place. For years I struggled to find an outlet for my work trying with limited success a variety of so called “art” sites and imagine my amazement when I found RB on the other side of the Globe. A great place to network, discover new friends, promote and sell your creative artworks, but then you probably know that already. My poor wife is presently working her fingers to the bone, (for the wife of a ghost you say that’s probably cool), whilst I am chief cook, childminder and bottle washer. I do work at present as a part-time children’s entertainer, clown, robot & pirate etc which brings in a small income but would love to let her relax a little more. / My creative images are slowly receiving more recognition, displays at local galleries etc though there is a challenge I would dearly love to win, “London Calling” competion with my T-shirt design entry Call London for the indie streetwear store Demo in London.   Hi All; I’m looking into starting a new group that would be strictly for Digital Art Compilations. There are groups that have similar postings. This group, however, would be strictly compilations where more than one image is blended into a finished image. For example, you have an image of a horse and a tree and you use photo editing software to blend them into one image. So, no abstract art, or fractals, or “alien fingers”, and the like (lol). Anyhow, to apply for a new group Red Bubble recommends at least one co-host to help with the administration of it. Two co-hosts would be ideal. I know there are a lot of you who are very good at this technique who are on my watch list. That’s one of the reasons you’re on my list. Any of you would be great for this group. This is an area that really takes talent, in my mind, to be effective and I also believe there is a untapped market for this type of art. Several of the images chosen for me to display in the gallery are of this nature, which is another indicator to me that this medium is coming of age. If you are interested in taking this on, I can’t offer you a salary (lol), but i can tell you that it will be rewarding to see what people can create, and, more important, help others find themselves in it. You never know, it may even generate some sales. So, don’t be shy, step up and be counted. It’ll be fun and my hope is that it will not be a big time commitment, especially if we can get a couple of co-host helping out. A time when you knew that The Lord loved you and wanted your heart. This is what I mean when I say He called my name. for those who have read my personal testimony, you will know that he called my name. When I was a chronic Alcoholic, gambler and one who practiced witchcraft. *. Due to the requests of friends I have met via Redbubble, I have decided to share with you, how the lord called me to serve him in Africa. A call to service. [As the Lord lives and is true and holy, I certify that what you are about to read is a true account of how Jesus called me into Missionary Service. This is still as fresh in my memory today as it was when this incredible event took place in my life] On Friday 26th August 1994, I was troubled in my spirit all day. I sat and watched Television and read a book, but yet I felt God wanted to speak to me, but I did not know what he wanted. So my wife said to me that I should just go to the park and pray. It was 6.05pm in the evening when I arrived at the park, and I parked my car and started to walk around the park. / I was walking and looking at the swans on the pond and praying at the same time. Then with not warning at all, I became aware that someone was walking close behind me. I did not look back, but knew someone was behind me. I continued walking along a narrow footpath and as I did I felt a person’s hand holding mine. There was no fear or indeed any desire to look to see who this was that was holding my right hand. / It was very strange looking back now to why I did not want to see who it was. This would have been anyone’s reaction at the time. I felt warm and at peace, not knowing that It was *Jesus who was the one actually holding my hand. I was Praying in the Spirit [speaking to God in the gift of tongues]. Then Jesus said my name, Trevor. It was the softness and Love in his voice that caused me to look and as I say my Masters face, I knew that It was him. He did not need to tell me it was Jesus. When Jesus comes to you my friend, you won’t need any introduction or explanation, for you will know it is the King of kings that has called your name. In an instant tears my friend flowed down my face, and I was crying like I have never cried before. My emotions were overwhelmed with sadness and sorrow, because his eyes were filled with tears also and he was quietly weeping. Here was my Jesus holding my hand and he was crying. I could not understand why I was not jubilant with Joy. His sorrow pierced my very fibre of my being. By now, I was transported away from all consciousness of being in the park on a bright summer evening and we were in a dark place. The Only way I can describe this pace is to use a well as an example. Imagine a deep round stone well, empty, and you are at the bottom of it. It is very round and very wide. So can hardly see the other side of it, and you can just make out the huge stones that form the round sides of it. It’s dark at the bottom and you cannot see any light, except the light that emanates from Jesus Garments. This is how it seemed at that point. As I Gazed into his face, he spoke these words to me. / “Trevor, My Son, I want to show you something, do not be afraid my son for I am with you”. There was a short silence as these words took hold of me. He gently squeezed my hand and began to walk forward in this dark place. As we went forward, he was still weeping, and I could hear voices in the distance and different kinds of noises, like doors opening and closing, and A smell that I had never experienced before. I was crying as the Passion and sorrow of Jesus seemed to flow into my heart. It was so hard to carry such sadness and I have never experienced this before or after. Then I began to see people at my left side and all were chained to the walls and terrible sores were all over them, and all were shouting things at Jesus. I could not make out what they were saying, but Jesus was crying and weeping. The smell was terrible and there were some that when they say him cried as well. As we went forward the light that was so white lit up the side and a little ahead. The place was so big and wide I could not see the other ends. Then he again spoke to me “Trevor my Son, Do not be afraid”. I was scared, but his words just melted away any fears I had. We then came to a place where I saw am Casket alone and as we walked pass, a man spoke and said “Jesus, Why have you let me come here?. Jesus with tears answered him and said “Judgement has been set”. Again the man shouted at him and started to explain to Jesus that he was a pastor and that all his life he served Jesus and Preached and give to those in need. Jesus said again to him, “Judgement has been set”. / / All the time Jesus was weeping and I was looking at Jesus all the time, and I never did see the man, but knew he was a man, because of his voice. Again the man pleaded with Jesus and told him many other good things he had done and as he was talking, Jesus raised his other hand and stopped the man from speaking. Then Jesus said to the man, “ I sent you warnings, I sent messengers to warn you and you did not repent, for the woman you slept with was not the wife I had given you, and you died in your sins, therefore Judgement has been set”. Jesus was very sad, and began to lead me further into this dark and cold place. Then we came to another place like a very large open place with walls so thick and wide and there were like empty prison cells all around. One cell stacked upon another and I could not see where they ended, and they were so high. Then Jesus knelt down on his knees and was now crying and I could feel his body shaking. All this time he was still holding my right hand. I stood beside him with tears flowing down my face and my heart was breaking with compassion and sadness for my Lovely Lord Jesus. I then knelt down beside him and wanted to hold him close, but I was so troubled to see My Lord cry like this. Then I asked him the only question I asked through all of this. “Lord, why are you crying, there is nobody here?. In what seemed like a long time we both cried and cried. Then still kneeling, Jesus looked deep into my eyes and said, / “This Place is prepared for all those who do not know my name”. / As I looked all around, I now could hear screams and fluttering wings and rustlings above our heads high above where we were. I saw in the darkness shadows of what I can only describe as winged demons, hellish beings flying about. Jesus was weeping so hard and as he stood up, I was still on my knees. He looked into my face and said to me “My Son, Go to Africa, to the villages and proclaim my name among the people, Go tell them who I am and that I love them, and I will be with you each step you take” Then Again suddenly, as if no time passed, I was back in the park. The first thing I became aware of was that I could not feel his hand in mine. I cried and begged him to come back again, and I remember saying Lord there is so much I want to ask you. The Holy Spirit then opened the eyes of my understanding and I realised that God had allowed me to have a vision where Jesus came and called my name. Where he had appeared to me and called me for service. I was deeply shaken and all they way back to my car, I was worshipping my lord in tongues [heavenly Language]. How I drove home, I do not know, and as I told my wife and we both just praised God and give thanks. I told my pastor the following day Saturday 27th August 1994, and the response are you sure it was Jesus. I was upset and few in the church the following day had any encouragement. So On Monday 27th August 1994 I went to my local travel agent and asked how much a ticket would be for Uganda. As a boy in School we had a visiting teacher from Uganda. I marvelled at the little round huts they lived in and the photographs she showed us was amazing. So I settled it that Uganda was the place God wanted me to go. The ticket was £530.00. I had no money so I sold my car. I was determined to get to where Jesus sent me and do what he told me to do. All this time and even now. I still see my Lord and the love in his beautiful eyes. Yes I still cry and know someday I will be with him forever. I Got the exact money from the sale of my car. It was then that the Church saw that I was committed to following my lords Commission. A Little money came in and I went to Africa on Saturday 24th September 1994. I arrived in a country where I knew nobody. I asked the taxi driver at Entebbe airport to take me to a Christian Guesthouse. He took me to marimba Guest house. That evening as I lay alone in my little room, a house girl knocked my door. She asked if I would like to attend a church. I was so happy. The following Day I who knew nobody was preaching to a Church of Over 2000 people. That evening I was speaking at Chief of Police Wedding anniversary, and in that audience were Government officials, and others. The following week I was given a small house to live in free of charge, a Vehicle and driver, and the mission to extreme poor and isolated villages was born. Since that time I have dedicated my whole life to Preaching the Gospel in remote areas of Africa, South India and have never had a salary. I have trusted and depended on God to meet my needs and that of my family. There have been and still are difficulties in rising the cost of Travel, But God always blesses me with Good people whom he has given a passion and heart to pray for these precious children and to sow financially into his work. This is how the Lord called me to service. I pray It will bless and inspire you. Thank you to all who have asked me how God called me to be a missionary without having a job to fund it. A really good friend of mine from another site has been involved in a motorcycle wreck… He and his wife…... his wife seems to be ok , other than some bruising, however, He has suffered 5 broken ribs, punctured lungs and a lacerated liver. WE NEED YOUR PRAYERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IF we all gather together in unity in prayer for my dear friend, GOD WILL HEAR US AND OUR PRAYERS WILL BE ANSWERED !!!!!!!!!!!!!   Time must figure prominently in each story. For example, the story could be about time travel. Or it might concern a wizard who uses spells that affect time in some way. It might be about people or things that have been displaced to a time other than their own. The story could even be about someone who’s time is running out, perhaps from a deadly disease or poison. Stories that explore parallel events in time, the nature of time or in some other way are centered around time will all fit in this anthology. Along with TIME as the central focus of the story, it must also fit in one of the following genres: Hard Science Fiction Soft Science Fiction Fantasy Space Western The above genres can be mixed with each other if desired but stories that fall outside of these will not be considered. For example, a story that is Space Western/Fantasy would be perfectly fine but a story that was Horror would not. The only exception would be minor elements. A fantasy could have some horror elements as long as they weren’t so heavy as to turn the story into a Horror or Horror/Fantasy mix. If you have questions whether your story idea qualifies, feel free to email and ask. Stories may be set in any time period from prehistory to the far future. Word count must be between 3000 and 6500. Stories that are too short or too long will be sent back to the author to revise and resubmit. Submissions open on Nov. 1, 2008 and close on May 1, 2009. Submissions received before Nov. 1, or after May 1, will not be considered.   I know you’re out there. / Some of you may know of the emergency situation happening in Eastern Congo right now. The town I was in last year is under seige and so are people I know and love. I know it’s such a downer to hear these things but I have to be an advocate. / The fight is over minerals – you may have seen the movie “Blood Diamond?’ . Well this is very accurate but just replace Diamonds with Coltan-the mineral used in mobile phones and some computers. Following is an email from the head of HEAL Africa I received 10 minutes ago. Then there’s a letter our American friends can copy to send to their congressman and US companies such as DELL/Apple/ Hewlett Packard. Please please please… Dear friends, Please be reassured for all of us. We have woken up safely. After a night of shooting in the town, all is quiet, and Jo and I and about half the staff are at the hospital. CNDP are outside the town, and they do not want to engage the MONUC – that would be a major diplomatic faux pas. So probably the wisest thing the Congolese army could do was to run away. The shops are mostly intact, thanks to the police patrolling the main streets. Some of the military are coming back into town. The casualties are many, especially from the populated areas, where most of the looting occurred in private houses. One family near ULPGL lost seven children. The bandits were also out in force, including the ones that come over from Gisenyi Pray for the family of Mrs Esanga and her family. They are all here in the hospital. All four children were seriously injured and the mother was tortured. They put a grenade under the mattress of the six-year old, where he was sleeping. I went into surgery while Jo and Kimona were repairing the older brother, putting his liver and intestines back. We pray he will survive. Such cruelty is incomprehensible. It has nothing to do with war; it is banditry and terrorism. Saturday, I am supposed to go to RSA with Dr Likofata and Dr Bitwe for the research training. We will decide on that one tomorrow, after seeing how we get through this night. With best wishes. As I am sure you are aware, conflict has resumed in northeast Democratic Republic of Congo, a conflict that is fueled by the lust for the Congo’s riches, including Coltan. Over 80% of the known reserves of coltan is found in NE DRC, but the coltan being exported is more often than not blood coltan. Much of the coltan finds its way to the US via Rwanda after it has been extracted by men, women and children terrorized by beatings, killings and rape at the hands of soldiers, rebels and militias who trade coltan for funds and weapons to further the conflict. The problem of blood coltan is so grave that the U.S. Senate recently passed the Conflict Coltan and Cassiterite Act of 2008 (SB 3058). Similar to the legislation banning importation of blood diamonds, SB 3058 will require that coltan be certified as conflict free before being imported. / / Please advise me / 1) where does your company obtain it coltan? You cannot rely upon shipping documents that indicate someplace in Europe, Asia, or even Rwanda. Most Coltan comes from the DRC. 2) What assurance do you have that your suppliers of coltan have not obtained it from the DRC? 3) Have you even asked your suppliers to reveal the original source of the coltan you have purchased? 4) What is your position on the Coltan and Cassiterite Act of 2008 (SB 3058), now pending in the House of Representatives? 5) What steps are you willing to take to assure that your coltan is conflict free? / Your web site suggests that you are a socially responsible company.
