Ocean Beach, Northern California … what a gorgeous day at the beach… decent size waves crashing in caused a LOT of mist all along the shore! AWE-SOME! Isn’t it funny how at the beach everyone’s worries just melt away? My biggest draw to beaches … feeling free of worry. This shot is one that needs to be looked at carefully.. the best parts about it, in my opinion, are the silhouettes in the mist.. . if you look carefully (left to right…) you will see one about to throw a football, you will see a child riding on anothers back, random groups of people, friends, families, a girl with pig-tails digging in the sand… it’s just so beautiful to watch life. Live and love people… Thank you so much for looking!

What a wonderful surprise awaited for me when I logged in this morning, three of my images were sold, all sharing the same location and theme, but the unique thing about this sale, is that the buyer bought 10 from one image and 2 of each of the other ones. / This image depicting an HDR composition of Avila Beach harbor and piers at dusk had an order of 10 units. / / The following images were purchased two a piece. Skim Surfing and Shore Surfing / Who ever you are who bought my cards, thank you so very much, you made my day!!!

Here is my definition of blue crush. There is something about surfers. Their passion for surfing and the great blue ocean seems to supersede all else. It is more than a hobby, it is a way of life. It is a love affair that can not be touched. Shot taken in Santa Cruz California.

I took this picture off the pier in Huntington Beach. The waves were gorgeous but not overly high. The water was dotted with surfers but I managed to capture this one alone in the curl with the spray of the wave.

Sunset Seagull & Surfers / . / I was tracking this seagull while it was overhead, hovering beside a low cliff (to the right of this scene). As it moved down and toward the beach, the surfers came into frame and it was a reflex shot. A moment more and I would have had nothing but a frame full of glare :-) / . / Fuji S9500 ISO 80 F5.6 1/2000 / Image Size: 5000×3297 / . / Miwok Beach, California, USA. / Spring 2007 / . / Detail from Sunset Seagull & Surfers / shown at 50% of actual size, unsharpened. /

Early morning in Santa Cruz, California. What a beautiful spot, everyone was soaking in the beauty. From the birds, to the folks leaning on the fence, to the lone surfer on the rocks on the far right. This is an HDR image, left a little dark on purpose to set a bit of a different mood. Best viewed in large format. HDR Images / Prague Images / Aviation Related Images

Hi all … The pictures of the surfer where taken anonymously near Carpinteria, CA. I sent their local paper an e-mail with a picture of her in attempt to locate this ball of talent. Her mother responded and I sent her images you see posted here. As it turns out, her daughter is competing in Austria this month … her note to me is below. If anyone is in the area … get some images and post them … she deserves it. Hi Toby, / Thanks so much for your generous sending of the photos- they are great additions to Rachel’s portfolio. / In fact, Rachel and I are in West Australia right now after a week in North Sydney where Rachel is competing in her first big professional contests- the pictures are a great motivator and we viewed them tonight as she prepares for the second contest tomorrow. / All the best to you, / Please let me know if you come back through Carpinteria, I’d love to meet you in person. / Warm regards, / Terry

I took this picture of a couple of young surfers coming in for the evening. There are couples walking the beach as well. I thought it looked so peaceful.

This was taken at Dana Point, near LA, California. It was taken seriously over exposed then darkened on photoshop so the darker areas can still be seen whilst the rest of the image remains bleached.
