  • This is an image for my upcoming 08/09 Pumped Up Down Under calendar. This calendar commenced in 1989 and was initially a gym publication designed to inspire women to work with weights. It is now more of a fitness pictorial and whilst still inspiring to women has built up an enormous male following. I am really passionate about running workshops pertaining to images such as these. I have set up a group to promote and feature these workshops. / Empowered Beauty / Also please visit my personal website www.leapoffaith.com.au

Hello! We have a jammed packed release today! Calendars: We’ve made calendars available for public sale. Just in time for calendar buying season. Anyone can make a calendar ... it’s easy! Challenges: We’ve released an update today that should speed up the voting in challenges (we removed the animation). Over the next few months we’ll be doing more tweaks to the challenges – as we incorporate your feedback (e.g. we’ll introduce the ability to see multiple entries whilst voting). Forums: We’re testing out a moderated forum idea this week. From time to time there are heated discussions in the forums … we don’t want to shut these discussions down as they can be some of the most interesting and informative discussions. But we do want them to remain civil and constructive. We want people to ‘play nice’. So we’re testing the idea that some forum threads can be flagged as ‘moderated’ – that is each comment is reviewed prior to being made public. The folks that will help with the reviewing are the staff of RB and a range of volunteers from the community. We’ll test this idea out for a few weeks – and see how it goes! Most Helpful Bubbler: Jo’s running search this week to find the Most Helpful Bubbler. There are so many people who really make this community the supportive and fun place it is. Let’s get together and recognize them for what they contribute. Nominate another member or host and they could win a special prize pack worth US$100 tailored especially for their tastes. Plus a special featured page in their honor. Plus an interview on their creative journey to be published in the Daily Wrap. Got someone is mind? Nominate them by email with 50-100 words describing why they are the most helpful bubbler. Then keep it a big juicy secret so that they get an extra special surprise when we announce the shortlisted nominees next week. RedBubble Challenges: “Compassion, Friendship and Courage” is in the final design stages and should be going on sale soon. Your work looks and reads beautifully. “The City” is now open for images and writing submissions. Get shuffling as you only have 13 days to submit work. And the publication after that will be ‘Nude” so start preparing suitable written and visual work. It will open for submissions in about 3-4 weeks. Here’s a few of my favourites … There’s also a few comings and goings this week. The RB tech team is metamorphosing as we establish an office in San Francisco. Not all the wonderful people who’ve worked on the website are staying with RB and this week I’d like to say a very fond farewell to Justin and Ben. Justin has been with RB since the very early days (2 years ago) ... and he was just the most wonderful person to work with! We wish him all the very best with his next venture. Ben has been with RB since the start of this year – and his dry and laconic sense of humour will sorely be missed. Thank you both! / On the flip side I’d like to welcome Jason to RB – who has joined RB as our sales and marketing guru. Jason has spent more than 10 years marketing and selling on the Internet – and his role with RB is to sell more of your wonderful work (and helping you to sell your work). Welcome Jason. Ciao for this week, - Peter

  • [Taken in Natural Light]. Taken on the banks of the river Nile, remote Nigeria. I got into conversation with this Muslim girl and I felt s deep compassion for her, as she said She sells peanuts to get money to help her Grandfather who cares for her and her brother and two sisters. Her mother is dead and when she died the father just left and never returned. She told me that she only sold three packets that day and she was selling from around 10 am to 7pm. She did not make enough even to buy basic foods. She spoke good English so I knew she had had some education. I and my fellow mission workers bought what she had left. Then I asked her If I could pray for her. She said yes. I asked God to open her heard adn reveal himself to her. We led to to Christ. She wept and the lord really did touch her. We now visit her village often. All proceeds from sale of my art, or donations made via our charity website goes to help extreme poor and sick in remote and rural villages of Africa. We do not take anything out of it. I invite all to Please visit Philadelphia Mission Africa Charity website: / http://www.philadelphia33.org/ Camera: Canon EOS 400D. Lens: Canon EF70-300 IS USM. / ISO: 400.

  • A wander through the daydream journeys of Aimee Stewart If you wish to see the individual pages better, click on the following links: January – Our Secret Harbor February – In a Maasai Dream March – Safari April – Magic Grotto May – Man in the Moon June – In Quiet Light July – The Low Plain August – Secret Parade September – Treasure Hunt October – Her Menagerie November – Caravanserai December – Parley Cove Many of the works in this calendar are either being seen for the first time here, or this is the first time they are being released as prints in any format. I truly wanted to be able to take a daydream journey at a glance with these, and be transported from the daily routine. I think that is pretty much my goal all the time! ;) I am delighted to think there are others out there like me who will recognize a part of their wayfaring heart on these pages.

  • We spent a weeks holiday in this area, and the weather was pretty poor most days, I had a hard time pulling anything good out of my Canon 40D !! / However, on the last morning, I woke early to a glimmer of light, and planned to shoot the early morning light falling on the Summer Isle. Of course, that didn’t work out, so feeling despondant, drove around the corner to turn around. / Glad I did, for less than five minutes, the light played ball ! / I knew I couldn’t shoot for a conventional shot, far too much contrast with those sunbeams, so I settled for a three – shot , hand-held, HDR image. There wasn’t time to set up the tripod, but I didn’t need it, since great depth of field was not required on this occasion. Luckily I had my IS ( image stabilisation ) lens already fitted ! The light rapidly disappeared under a big blanket of cloud, which remained with us in the North West for over a WEEK !! / It was however, a magical moment, filled with adrenaline ! Shot on my Canon EOS 40D, Canon 17-85mm f4.0-5.6 IS USM lens set at 79mm, 0EV, -2EV, +2EV, RAW, iso 100, cloudy wb, then processed in Photomatix, and further enhanced in Adobe Photoshop CS3, where I had to do some more selective Tone Mapping, in particular the moorland, where I wanted a little ‘pool’ of light. I also helped along the sunbeams with a subtle use of ‘dodging and burning’. / LAB colour was also employed, gently. The ‘warm up ’ photo filter was also used in Layers, and eradicated from areas not required by using Layer masks and painted out. / The result was what I had in my mind when I saw the scene, and could not be described as a true record of the scene before me. / This is the Digital Age, let us enjoy it, and use it to advantage !! It’s September! Which is pretty exciting by itself, and we’ve taken that excitement one step further by celebrating the recent launch of our marvellous 2010 RedBubble Calendars with a quite brilliant offer. We’ve knocked 15% off all calendars, that’s 365 days for the price of 310. Where else can you find such value? Nowhere that’s where. And when you buy 10 or more, we’ll give you free shipping. But you only have one week to enjoy this offer, (ends 10am AEST, convert to your time.) so if you haven’t already chosen 12 images and selected what will be brightening your kitchen next April, then I’d suggest you get your skates on and make yourself a fancy new calendar. Of course if you’re really stretched for time, you can just buy somebody else’s. And over here, someone called ‘Jo’, has written all about how useful they are as gifts or even at making you some money, with which to buy more calendars I expect. And when they look this lovely, it’s just not surprising. / / / 2009 is so last year. Regards, Mr Baxter – Deputy of Date and Time, But Mainly Date —-—-—-- Follow my every exciting move on Twitter. / And add me to your watchlist.
