The final assignment for my ART 499 class with David Hylton (Digital Illustration). Project title – Memories. Elements used – various completed art assignments, ranging from those I did while still a college freshman, to more recent works. Also used a photo of the sky (taken in Rome), and a photo of my old sketchbook, in which I did a lot of thumbnail sketches for many of my graphic design projects. This project, in essence, represents everything it took for me to finish my college education, and the hope that the future holds good things for me.

In California these are everywhere. I was fascinated with this group because, that paricular day, the sun was so bright I could see the shadow of the stamens through the petals.

It is SAID that music can rip and wrinkle the fabric of space and time….to create worlds beyond your imagining…....... The Constellation Lyra The Sumerians and Babylonians saw Lyra not as a harp but a vulture. This is suggested by early records of the constellation as a harp being carried by a vulture. So instead of being the Harp star it may once have been the Vulture Star.

Most of the fires around California are out but there are a couple that are still threatening homes, business, and scores of wildlife and flora keeping the skies darkened by smoke. The particulate levels have dropped to bad from Really Seriously Bad but the brown sky still isn’t allowing much other colour. This shot was taken near the place where the Bear Falls was shot and a massive fire is still smoldering hotly. I witnessed the collecting and transporting of the fire retardant by helicopter from a field. There were about 10 support vehicles on the ground and the pick-up was made by dipping the collector into the huge round bin in the field. This was a VERY tricky thing to do as the chopper was making a nasty down-wash which blew some of the retardant around the container and the wind speed at the time was pretty gusty. It took about 10 minutes to get the collector in the bin. Upon lifting away, some of the retardant could be seen blowing off or out of the collector before the chopper went to wherever it was assigned to drop next. This was almost as cool as seeing a water plane skim a lake to gather water for the same purpose.
