This photo was taken in my last trip to Egypt “cairo”. This is a historical mosque belongs to Mohammed-ali-basha. This mosque is located in “The Citadel/ Al-Qalaa” which was built by Salah Ad-Din during 1176. The Citadel is one of the most popular sightseeing in Cairo Egypt and one of the most visited areas in the city. It is now the museum that offers the best collections and impressive views of Cairo. / ___________ Featured in the featured art gallery. Featured in the group Islamic Beauty. ______
Huge inner hanging lamp. I just lay down below this huge lamp (in the middle of the mosque) and took it. CITADEL, Egypt. The mosque was built on the site of old Mamluk buildings in Cairo’s Citadel between 1830 and 1848, although not completed until the reign of Said Pasha in 1857. The architect was Yusuf Bushnak from Istanbul and its model was the Yeni Mosque1 in that city. The ground on which the mosque was erected was built with debris from the earlier buildings of the Citadel. Before completion of the mosque, the alabaster panels from the upper walls were taken away and used for the palaces of Abbas I. The stripped walls were clad with wood painted to look like marble. In 1899 the mosque showed signs of cracking and some inadequate repairs were undertaken. But the condition of the mosque became so dangerous that a complete scheme of restoration was ordered by King Fuad in 1931 and was finally completed under King Farouk in 1939. Muhammad Ali Pasha was buried in a tomb carved from Carrara marble, in the courtyard of the mosque. His body was transferred here from Hawsh al-Basha in 1857. The Pyramids of Giza, Egypt. This image features in my calendar “Scenes From the Middle East”
The last of the three major pyramids at Giza is the pyramid for Pharaoh Menkaure. After this, the building of pyramids at the Giza plateau stopped – in fact, it’s believed this pyramid was completed after the Pharaoh’s death. From this vantage point, the pyramid seems lost and alone against the backdrop of the land and sky. It’s amazing to bear witness to the works of men who lived and died, like we all will, 4,000 years ago. UNESCO World Heritage Site /

This work had been FEATURED in the group Unique Buildings Of The World & Photography 101 NIKON D 60 The Cairo Tower (Arabic: برج القاهرة) is a free-standing concrete TV tower in Cairo, Egypt. It stands in Zamalek district on Gezira Island in the River Nile, in the city centre. At 187 metres, it is 43 metres higher than the Great Pyramid of Giza, which stands some 15 km to the southwest. It is one of Cairo’s most famous and well-known landmarks. The Cairo Tower was built from 1956 to 1961, reportedly to convince a sceptical world the nation had the capability to construct the Aswan Dam. Its partially open lattice-work design is intended to evoke a lotus plant. The tower is crowned by a circular observation deck and a rotating restaurant. The rotation takes 70 minutes to complete and is a good place to view all of Cairo. (Wikipedia) 3rd PLACE on Hotels & Motels challenge at Mood & Ambience group MORE THAN 100 VIEWS
Taken at Giza – just outside of Cairo
The Great Pyramid of Giza, also called Khufu’s Pyramid or the Pyramid of Khufu, and Pyramid of Cheops, is the oldest and largest of the three pyramids in the Giza Necropolis bordering what is now Cairo, Egypt, and is the only remaining member of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It is believed the pyramid was built as a tomb for Fourth dynasty Egyptian King Khufu (Cheops in Greek) and constructed over a 20 year period concluding around 2560 BC. The Great Pyramid was the tallest man-made structure in the world for over 3,800 years. Originally the Great Pyramid was covered by casing stones that formed a smooth outer surface, and what is seen today is the underlying core structure. Some of the casing stones that once covered the structure can still be seen around the base. (Wikipedia)

The Mohammad Ali (Alabaster) Mosque – Cairo / Commissioned by Mohammad Ali Pasha, ruler of Egypt, and founder of the country’s last dynasty of Khedives and Kings / Designed by the Greek architect Yussuf Bushna, construction took 27 years (1830-1857) / It has two impressive 82 meters minarets making this mosque the most visible construction in Cairo / Is the most visited mosque in Egipt
The pyramids and the enigmatic Sphinx have been visited for thousands of years, literally. The pyramid on the right (relative to the viewer) is the pyramid of Pharaoh Khafre. The best guess at this time is that the face of the Sphinx was his. It’s believed the clearing of land for his pyramid exposed the large rock the Sphinx was carved from. This was done to decorate what would have otherwise been an otherwise ordinary rock near his pyramid. To the left, appearing quite small here, is the last pyramid constructed at Giza, the tomb of Menkaure.

Cairo loves cars, he dreams about them nearly every night. Like many four year olds, he is scared of monsters, so I invented the car angel. The car angel flys and drives around everywhere Cairo goes, chasing away any monsters and visits him in his dreams. This piece was created with pastels and a child like imagination.
