yes, hello everyone. Check me out! I know how to get around. I’ve got wings, you say? That’s not the secret! Look how cute and fluffy I am. I know how to pick them-that’s what I mean. I escaped from the clutches of some random human, and honed in on a new one once I escaped-the head animal keeper, no less. But he didn’t have time for me, so he gave me to his dad. He also found me a bit scary-I tried to show him how much I love him…held him dear. He thought that was biting him! Yeah, this beak is pretty strong, huh-huh. So a bird lover on the team (my current pet) took me home. I welcome her and all visitors with excitement. Screech! They can’t believe their ears, and hold their hands over their ears, to keep the sound in there for ages. It’s pretty cool. So, every now and then, I give them a new treat. Screech! They get such a happy surprise! Here I am. Shyly looking back at you. See how pretty I am!

I went to the Knoxville Zoo for the first time in November of 2008. It was the first time I had visited this zoo since I had moved to this area in 2000. / As I was shooting this bear, I could feel it’s pain. I felt it was so ironic that the native animal of this area was living in the enviroment it has to live in. So as I was shooting this shot, that is when the title came to my mind. It literally drove me crazy listening to people making sounds at it, and hitting the glass, I think I did well by not just going off on them, which is what I really wanted to do. / As much as I hate to say it, I wasnt impressed with the zoo’s set up for all the animals I viewed while I was there. Just hard to make a home with concrete walls, fake trees, and a blank surrounding. / Without a doubt, I have adapted quickly to shooting these animals in the wild, in their natural habitat. / I shot this thru the glass, after getting my shot ready for auto focus, I switched to manual so my lens wouldnt focus in on the glass as I hit the shutterbutton. / Shooting at an angle so the glare from behind me wouldnt reflect on the glass. I shot this in Shutterspeed (SS) mode / SS set at 1/160 / Fstop at F 5.6 / ISO at 400 / Focal length at 300mm / Exposure compensation at 0

I watched as this young male cougar pleaded for food, as the trainer talked about how this male should be living, and the sad look in his eyes took me aback, as I wondered how sad a life he must have, to depend on man to give him what should have become his natural instict to survive, what happens when there no more of these beauties in the wild, what will become of their species…..... OK so being the big kid that I am….I had to go to the zoo in Adelaide. Came across this guy snoozing in the sunshine. Didn’t look like I was going to get a decent shot of his face at all ….until suddenly he woke up, lifted his head, looked around at us and then promptly went back to sleep.
