  • Nevada City is an amazing place, but you have to be there early to get the place to yourself ! We got lucky, it was ‘off’ season and consequently very quiet , combined with a beautiful morning. / There were so many things to photograph, you could spend a whole lot of time there, but we were headed for Yellowstone, so time was limited sadly. Along with Bodie, California, this is a place I would happily return to time and time again …....... if only !! Shot on a Canon EOS 40D, polarising filter attached, and mounted on a tripod. Canon 18-55mm kit lens / f22, 1/10 sec, underexposed by half a stop, iso 100. Cloudy WB. / I processed a single RAW file in Photomatix, HDR. Then processed in Adobe Camera RAW, then Ortoned it in PS CS3, adjusting Curves/levels, selective colour, etc., plus a bit of dodging and burning. / FEATURED IN / http://www.redbubble.com/groups/your-magic-places / AND / http://www.redbubble.com/groups/dslr-users-only-3-a-day / AND / http://www.redbubble.com/groups/rebel-group / AND / http://www.redbubble.com/happy-haven / AND / http://www.redbubble.com/groups/unlimited-quality

  • A brave beach cabin affronting the storm … / Seen in Blankenberge, Belgian coast. Feel free to have a look on my calendar 2010 ‘Beautiful Belgium’. This image is part of it. /

  • High Dramatic colors added in GIMP 2 to the already very dramatic autumn scene. / I wanted an image that would just jump right out of your screen, LOL! I think I accomplished that!! This old homestead is made from rough sawed oak slabs, and it is done in the board, and laith technique, and style. The rough sawed oak is put up green, and as it cures it woud shrink, and leave cracks. Once the shrinking had finished they would come along with a smaller strip to cover those cracks. You might be asking, why put it up green, then? Well, the answer is…..once the rough sawn oak seasons, it is almost impossible to drive a nail through it.

  • Best Viewed Larger This lovely old cabin is one of the first structures visitors see when they arrive at Old Bedford Village, a Living History Museum, in Bedford, PA. Many of the structures here are original to the general area. When their useful lives were over they were torn down and reconstructed on the site. Others are reproductions, meticulously crafted to represent their original counterparts. Image taken on October 17, 2009 with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens, uv and cp filters attached. Shutter 1/320, aperture f/9.0, exp -.33, iso 250. Post processing included some work in levels and a hint of warm filter in Photoshop.

  • A shot taken up in Swedish Lapland somewhere.
