  • Byron Bay Midnight Ocean Rocks © / Vicki Ferrari The most easterly point in Australia! Byron Bay Moonlight Series / Byron Bay Moon © AS IS / Byron Bay Moon ©— This shot is AS IS (bar the signature) and was taken looking down from the lighthouse (tourist area), into the ocean – quite an angle to the tripod! This was as wide as I could get it, considering the angle! See below for more information. Please excuse me for being lazy by writing all of this in one description. It will fit with all the photographs in this series. These images were taken at Byron Bay Lighthouse, New South Wales, Australia back in 2004. The photographs were shot at night, on a full moon, close to midnight, which is why you can see stars in the sky, a passing ship has its light on, and it also explains the lack of bright reflection on the surface of the ocean. The experimental portraits were taken firing my Sunpak 4500DX flash (handheld), often over and over. Where there are two people (I have deliberately blurred the other person’s face, as a courtesy!) in the image, one of them being me, we had to sit very, very still (difficult for me to do!!) – not smiling (or talking, again hard to do!) as to hold the same smile for an extended period of time can be difficult and if you move your mouth, you get blur. Of course, this explains why those old nostalgic portraits from yesteryear tend to make you think the subjects weren’t that happy! I will also be doing some creative adjustments using Photoshop but will be including that information in the Technical Data. Hope you like this series! Mounted Print – Byron Bay Moon © / Technical Data / Nikon D70 / July 2004 / Close to Midnight / Tripod / Focal 92mm / F4.5 / 30second exposure / Original JPEG

  • The Lighthouse
    by Mark Hayward

    US$3.99–US$91.20

Well I have just gotten back from a stint up the East coast on Sunday night, and of course had to stop in Byron Bay for what was supposed to be a night, but turned into 4. Took about a million photographs but only a few were Red Bubble worthy in my own estimation. Unfortunately for me, a very talented Lee Burgess has beaten me to the punch on the lighthouse by about 8 hours…Oh well, pays not to sit on piccies too long huh! For what its worth, this is my take…

  • Bay Watch

a beautiful song about the beach at Byron, really worth a listen on utube / Forgotten Beach (Byron Bay) – Robert James / Bay Watch / Beach Series / Karin Taylor / Mixed Media ink pastel acrylic charcoal….plus a lot of gesso :) / I sketched this girl at the The Pass, Byron Bay… / a pretty famous beach, i live close to this beach… / it’s one of the most beautiful places on earth… In my teenage years, everything we did involved the beach, all the fun we had, all the mischief we got up to, from midnight swims, to campfires…..that was our escape…..the first place I went camping on a sorta freedom trip when i was 15 with my two best girls Marve and Prawn…..we were the best friends ever….their we played amongst the surf, got bronzed and enjoyed the attention of the local surfer boys…ahhh memories…. that was one of the best, i have the greatest fondness for all things surrounding the beach, and this song about Byron Bay beach just says it all for me… i hope you like it…. Forgotten Beach / (Robert James) from the aussie band Gangajang The sand was our bedroom in Byron Bay / And the water was a picture on the wall / There were swimmers and surfers and joyful play / Then just one moment there’s no-one there at all I will always remember that forgotten beach / Just one moment no memory, two strangers embrace / I will remember the forgotten beach Two strangers, no memory / But everything remains from that day / Under the lighthouse we were lost / On the beach in the sand at Byron Bay / I remember I will always remember the forgotten beach / Just one moment no memory, two strangers embrace / I will remember the forgotten beach Well the sand was our bedroom in Byron Bay / And the water was a picture on the wall / There were swimmers and surfers and joyful play / Just one moment there’s no-one there at all Under the lighthouse we were lost / On the beach in the sand at Byron Bay / Oh darling, I remember / I will always remember the forgotten… I will always remember the forgotten beach / Just one moment no memory, two strangers embrace / I will remember the forgotten… Two strangers, no memory / Oh darling, everything remains… / Oh darling… two people, two strangers / Back in time, oh darling / Remember the forgotten beach

  • Dead Poets
    by Lorraine Creagh

    US$6.65–US$152.00

Tennyson, Byron and Burns and Scott…all poets from long ago. I’m so priviledged to have these books. They have been in my family for such a long time. Tennyson for 109 years, Byron for 122 years and Burns and Scott for 129 years. They are so old and fragileand I carefully turn the pages and read some poems. I’m transported back in time with each reading. / Featured in Art for Bubble Hosts on 14 May 2009 / Uploaded 17 January 2009 Placed in the top ten of the Womans Photographer Group Challenge 17 April 2009

  • Ye Spirits of the unbounded Universe, / Whom I have sought in darkness and in light! / Ye, who do compass earth about, and dwell / In subtler essence! Ye, to whom the tops / Of mountains inaccessible are haunts, / And earth’s and ocean’s caves familiar things…...... Words by George Gordon Byron – simply known as Lord Byron These words are taken from a dramatic poem written by Byron called Manfred. Lord Byron’s work Manfred inspired many great musicians – Robert Schumann in 1852, in a composition entitled Manfred – Pyotr Tchaikovsky in his Manfred Symphony, Op.1885, as well as by Carl Reinecke. How could Byron’s work not inspire us, today? Music – Tchaikovsky Painting using acrylic, inks and pigment – Inspired by Uccello one of my favourite Renaissance Painters.

  • ” ~ For My Friend Byron ~ 11” / / ~ In Loving Memory of your Mother ~ / / The long winter has passed, and it’s such a joy to see the forest come alive with new buds, and the Dogwoods in bloom. I find myself strolling along through the forest gazing at these blossoms as they brighten up the early spring sky. Native Dogwoods are small shrubs varying in size, and height that thrive under Arkansas hardwood forest. The blooms are approx 1 inch in diameter. Blooms in mid-May. / / If you would you like to ADD YOUR OWN WORDS to create a personal sentiment to this as a greeting card, please / Contact Me / I will make it personal from YOU, to YOUR friends. / / FEATURED IN SPRING BLOOMS 1 24 009
