Image of a male Australian Fur Seal(Arctocephalus pusillus),taken at Popes Eye Marine Park,Port Phillip Bay,Victoria.There was a colony of seals in the area many very inquisitive,this big fella got closer than I would have liked a few times.I was fortunate to observe males play fighting & asserting there dominance by slapping there fins on the water & then attacking each other,dont know whether it was stupid to be in amongst it but it sure was one of those magical moments in diving. © Copyright M.Tworkowski

This is an image of my brother-in-law’s dog, Buzz, blended into a sunset over Long Cove only about a half a mile away from his home in West Pennant, Nova Scotia, Canada. Buzz is a Springer Spaniel and a sweetheart of a dog. Everyone loves Buzz. For those who may be curious, Buzz is still alive and kickin’! Mum came over for a visit today, and as we were sitting out in the glorious spring sunshine this little guy came buzzing along. A spilt cup of tea, a quick dash upstairs for the camera, and a pair of very dirty knees later… this!

I had a vision again.

I was trying the macro setting on my 70-300mm lens in a field of flowers surrounded by these buzzing Bumbles. I am definetly going to invest in a dedicated macro lens… any suggestions as to what to get? I use a Canon 400D.

Conservation Information / A bumblebee (or bumble bee) is any member of the bee genus Bombus, in the family Apidae; there are over 250 known species primarily occurring in the Northern Hemisphere. / Bumblebees are social insects that are characterized by black and yellow body hairs, often in bands. However, some species have orange or red on their bodies, or may be entirely black. Another obvious (but not unique) characteristic is the soft nature of the hair (long, branched setae), called pile, that covers their entire body, making them appear and feel fuzzy. Please view larger for details…. This swarm of bees decided to drop a visit to my Preschool. I immediately went in to protective mode…got all 84 kids inside while the bees were swarming the back yard looking for a place to make their honeycomb and then of course after taking care of a few bee stings, removing some stingers and giving love to the kids that got stung, I got my camera and went back outside. I have never seen anything like this and thought I would share it with you. I guess the bees were camera shy – after about an hour they left – I of course was outside when the swarm left taking pictures. The things we do…..no bee stings for me!
