Grasses photographed at Corinella Beach Victoria
Rich rounds of colors swirl in this digital abstract painting. To me it suggests a child’s eye view of Grandma’s button box. This is a very large image with blues and purples predominating. Here is an image of it as a laminated print. /
Here are a few different ways that I embellish my hand made greeting cards. / Please let me know if you’re interested in the real thing otherwise they’d still print great as an image.
Those are some of my collection of front doors from different countries.

Did you ever wonder why our elder folk collected buttons, and then some how you always seem to want them because they reminded you of that person, I have tons of them in bottles in plastic, in cardboard containers, between grandmother inlaws, grandma, and sometimes just random elder folk who some how took a liking to you and decided for some reason or another that you just needed the buttons. I have many colors of buttons and many designs, flower ones, the ones that used to go on those sailor outfits you just had to dress your kids in because once upon a time they looked so cute in them lol, think about it, or maybe take a look into your mothers or grandmothers sewing basket, you will see that and the many snaps that was used at one time you know the kind and the expander thingy that makes your bra fit, oh come on now you know exactly what I am talking about, oh and dont forget the zippers because at one time it was on sale and they just needed to have them even if they didnt ever use them…. Portrait ….watercolor and watercolor pencil drawing of orange cat with ball of yarn / Paper is Coquile coldpress paper ..it has a stiple surface. I use it a lot, it is my paper of choice. It is predictable ..there are no surprises on the surface . I use the surface just as much as my color…it helps me achiieve the effect I want . People can identify my work . / This piece was a memorial of a cat named Buttons…It’s owners had no children ..this cat was their baby …It was ” 23 years old” when it passed away. / The reason I choose watercolor pencil…I love drawing…if I have to leave and stop working for a while ..I can come back and just start where I left off…I don’t have to worry about wet paint …building a canvas or cleaners for my brushes. I use a different types of watercolor pencils…some are brighter or softer than others. If I drop one of my pencils there is a good chance it will brake everytime I sharpen it and that is frustrating… I put carpet underneith my chair so if one falls it won’t be damaged….I use different erasers….Quik tac is great stuff …you can make it any size and any shape and you press down on it on your paper and the pigment will lift it right off….then you just need it and it’s clean again…I also use an electric eraser that you can sharpen…I use my eraser to draw with more than rubbing something out….I never press hard on my pencils I just make layer over layer…I use the tooth of the paper as part of my image so I don’t press hard on it because that would ruin it…The last thing I do is spray a fine mist of water over it to bring out more depth in my color….In graphite I’ll spray lightly with hair spray…making sure it doesn’t get wet. / How I did it….I draw my image outline …The first thing I start working on is the face and then start putting layers of color on building it up ..I’m also building my depth…then I use water on the water color pencil where I want it….It is a slow process of building the color …This was also building the fur.,,layer over layer…always the face is so important especially the eyes …With the portrait you have to capture a moment of the person your working on so the buyer will recognize the subject….It has to be a right on likeness…you have to capture that person even something the viewer will see in the eyes…a part of that person…. The lighting on the subject is also important because that is what gives your image depth. You also use the texture of the paper as a tool for your effect…I go from light colors to darker color….The background color has to be even. I never let a piece go unless I’m happy with it ..Sometimes I will get half way through a piece and trash it and start over…I am my own judge and jury…the only one I compete with is myself. / “Buttons” has been “Featured” in / Domestic Pedigree Cats / Works on Paper / Pets and People / Paws and Claws / Image Writing / First Things
