  • Tropical butterflys, not native to Oregon. These came from Costa Rica. Because they are not native to Oregon, they can’t release them at the end of the display. Because the Portland Zoo is not outfitted to support them year round, they destroy them when the season is over.

  • a monarch enjoys the sweet nectar of a butterfly bush flower

  • Oil Pastel and Acrylic on old wood with slight digital enhancements Ophelia, puzzled by the radical transformation that had taken place overnight to this butterfly friend of hers, thought to herself, “She was in a white thread-like casing yesterday, how did all that happen so fast? There must be something magical about that case!” This is inspired by a book Hope For The Flowers by Trina Paulus. This is a cute and yet thought provoking story about two caterpillars who because they mistake the meaning of their urge to get high, get entangled climbing a horrible “caterpillar pillar”. And for two caterpillars, we all know, surrendering to the cocoon is the only way to finally fly. Hope For the Flowers is a book that celebrates HOPE. My fave lines from the book is “How does one become a butterfly?” She asked pensively. “You must want to fly so much that you are willing to give up being a caterpillar.” We are all meant to be as beautiful and free like the butterflies, that’s our destiny…as we free ourselves to be who we really are…and together with our innate talents,we bring hope to the world around us, bringing change inevitably around us :D / You can view and buy my other “Metamorphosis” creations from my Zazzle Gallery:

  • I’m so jazzed. Was lucky enough to get this shot right in front of my house this morning. These guys keep moing and I kept shooting. Out of about 30 shots this was the best before he left. Only minor Photoshop work here. The background was the actual color of the sky today. He’s resting on a Mexican Bird Of Paradise. This is one of those on in a million shots, as far as I’m concerned….oh yeah…...:-) Hope you like! Add me to your watch list now / My Bubblesite

  • 2006 Acrylic on Canvas 30×40” A Flurry of Butterflies was Feautred in / Art For The World 24 Nov 09 A Flurry of Butterflies was Featured in / Impressionism Cafe 03 Dec 09 I was recovering from an accident in early 2006 I was sitting in my balcony, beauitful blue sky, sunshine, cool gentle breeze, and I was in great pain, thinking my painting and art career was over. Feeling bad low…..in great pain, and in despair, when a flurry of butterflies swirl around my plant a get well plant, with flowers, that was next to me. I just sat there looking at these beautiful butterflies, as they seem to say to me, don’t despair, you will recover. Then one of them landed on my right arm, that was in a sling, it flapped its wings as to say cheer up, you have survived worst conditions, then flew away. The sunshine kissed my face and a great feeling of peace came over me, and the great pain in arm and shoulder didn’t matter or seem to hurt anymore. That was a turning point for me as I began to slowly be able to use my right hand, even though I can paint with my left hand almost as well, as with my right .

  • When my children were small, they always did and said the most adorable things. Of course, my grandchildren are even cuter. :o) We always went for walks when I visited the little ones and looked at all the wonderment around us. My grandson always thought the butterflies on the flowers were kissing them not eating lunch as his dad and I told him. I have to admit, I like his version best. Created in Apophysis 3D Hack. Postwork in Photoshop. Featured in: / Dimensions Oct 2009 / Freedom to Shine Oct 2009 / ImageWriting Oct 2009

  • A surreal depiction of shoes for all seasons.

  • Butterfly resting on a cream astilbe flower in my garden. Image taken with a Canon EOS 500D and 250mm lens. Flood filter added in PS. / Best viewed large.

  • Canon 350D / F/5.6 / 1/400seg / ISO-100 I was sitting day dreaming on my varanda and this most beautiful (and the biggest) butterfly that I had ever seen came to visit my Bougainvillea. When I realised I wasn’t still day dreaming (as I never get the honour of such beautiful visitors) I ran inside to get my camera half expecting she would have already gone! It was so hard as she kept fluttering around but I manage to get this shot. / This is very new to me as I have never been able to capture something as beautiful as this. 170 views at the time of entering the 100+ group Featured in Dimensions 14th November 2009 / Featured in Backyard Macros and Close ups 14th November 2009 / Featured in Portugal 15th November 2009
