Crazy as it is, there exist butterflies that have transparent wings. I have never seen one before, but they keep a few in the butterfly gardens in Knokke-Heist in Belgium. And there I´ve met my first one. / The butterfly is commonly called the Glasswing and its home is Central America. Photographed with Nikon D200, lens Tamron 90mm, f/2,8 Some suggestions: /

Today she flew gracefully around then over me… / I thought she might land on my head… But no such luck to me was in her intent… She did however sit near me awhile… / On top the tip of a yellow~white flower… My Lady so proudly painted and groomed… / Without her the world as we know it is doomed… So when she flys on over your head… / Remember the earth and the words I have said… Just for fun tonight.. She is mighty and well as tiny.. But I do adore her.. :) /

Oil Pastel and Acrylic on old wood with slight digital enhancements Ophelia, puzzled by the radical transformation that had taken place overnight to this butterfly friend of hers, thought to herself, “She was in a white thread-like casing yesterday, how did all that happen so fast? There must be something magical about that case!” This is inspired by a book Hope For The Flowers by Trina Paulus. This is a cute and yet thought provoking story about two caterpillars who because they mistake the meaning of their urge to get high, get entangled climbing a horrible “caterpillar pillar”. And for two caterpillars, we all know, surrendering to the cocoon is the only way to finally fly. Hope For the Flowers is a book that celebrates HOPE. My fave lines from the book is “How does one become a butterfly?” She asked pensively. “You must want to fly so much that you are willing to give up being a caterpillar.” We are all meant to be as beautiful and free like the butterflies, that’s our destiny…as we free ourselves to be who we really are…and together with our innate talents,we bring hope to the world around us, bringing change inevitably around us :D / You can view and buy my other “Metamorphosis” creations from my Zazzle Gallery:

My son and I found this beautiful butterfly yesterday…...... Such grace and such awesome beauty….......... Life, what a precious thing indeed….......... I want to dedicate this to the awesome group Live, Love, Dream…....... You have each made me so happy! I am so very proud of you all and all that you are accomplishing…....... Such a beautiful group of nearing 1700 people… Its really climbing day by day…..... I had no idea when I dreamed up this group , that it would grow as it has…... YOU MAKE ME SO PROUD ! These beautiful butterflies are Ulysses. All of them are male. I just saw the blue and fawn colour together on something and then came up with these butterflies in a rainforest setting which is their natural habitat. I think the two colours work well together. I get inspired alot by colour and the combination of colours together. I saw alot of these butterflies in nature where I grew up as a child in Weipa Queensland, Australia. They are just so magnificent in real life. I could never take my eyes of them. The original oil on canvas measures 60×90cm and has sold. Tropical butterflys, not native to Oregon. These came from Costa Rica. Because they are not native to Oregon, they can’t release them at the end of the display. Because the Portland Zoo is not outfitted to support them year round, they destroy them when the season is over.
