  • What started out as a photograph of a wine stopper shaped like a chrome heart, became another Photoshop art project. There are several elements at work here, including the fractalius filter and several layers of colours in the four quadrants of this image. A song that I have always loved, not because it is sung by one of the greatest voices of our time, but because the lyrics speak of a way that describes how an artist would display their undying love for another person. This video is a performance of this fantastic song The Color of My Love by Celine Dion. The first time I heard it, and nearly every time since then, I get very emotional and often have to hold back tears. Interestingly enough, you will see Celine also begin to weep at the final line of the song. Grab a hankie – your gonna need it! Cheers, S. Thank you so much for taking the time to view and comment. • I have been in despair for several months, the image quality of my work has been poor and I continue to seriously consider my photographic future, if any. / This Red Admiral butterfly landed on my arm, flew about a foot away from me and posed beautifully for about 10 minutes. He was kind enough to land on a fence post in the allotments near my York home which meant I could rest the camera about 1cm away from him as he twirled and displayed his glorious self. He then flew to a leaf and continued to pose while I snapped away. / I knew the RA to be a beautiful insect but had never seen so much detail in the underwing before the series he permitted today. Do view him as large as possible, he’s worth it! The unexpectedly intricate kaleidoscope of patterns, colour and texture is superb. / The color of the underwing varies from black to the subtle colour variation seen in the main image according to the way the light strikes the scales. / Thank you RA & thank you St Focus, both have smiled upon me today. / 250809 / Sony H50 slight crop pf 1/250” 3.2 manual pattern 10.7mm / 250809 This sky where we live / Is no place to lose your wings. / So love, love, love. / Hafiz حافظ Human beings are members of a whole, / In creation of one essence and soul. / If one member is afflicted with pain, / Other members uneasy will remain. / If you have no sympathy for human pain, / The name of human you cannot retain. / Saadi “Of one Essence is the human race, / thus has Creation put the base; / One Limb impacted is sufficient / For all Others to feel the Mace ” / —Saadi (1184–1283) “There is only one sacred manuscript, the sacred manuscript of Nature, which alone can enlighten the reader.” Hazrat Inayat Khan All profits from my sales will be donated to Butterfly Conservation. • Here is another shot of the gorgeous butterfly that parked itself at my hose for a good half an hour and allowed me some really close photos…the aqua colour on its wings is really amazing, in the right light it looks like a sheet of translucent aqua glass, just like in this photo, quite a lot of colours on it and just so pretty! Taken at Ravenshoe, Far Nth Queensland, Australia

  • Common Australian Crow – Euploea core corinna / FAMILY NYMPHALIDAE (also called Oleander Crow). Knowing my luck, the one time I see a butterfly not fussed about moving any time soon and I was just about to leave the house!
