I’m bored, have a head cold and I’m stuck at home so I had to try and use my imagination with what I had around the house! I don’t know if I’ll keep this one up, I want to try and perfect it. It’s actually just a water drop on top of a tiny bougainvillea flower.. This can give you an idea of how tiny this actually is! Ohh, and this has not received any post processing.

Acryllic on canvas 16×24 Inch This work was for the Inaugural Art Exposing Eating Disorders Exhibition. An exhibition held at Sydney’s Mori Gallery with the aim of raising awareness & promoting positive body image through visual arts. / The use of butterflies is in part symbolic of the metamorphosis that transpires as one emerges from the “coocoon-like” existence of an eating disorder, the butterfly wings representing the freedom found in the ability to fly. The flowers, butterflies & dragonflies… some of natures most beautiful creations… represents the notion that true beauty inside & out is created by nature. All sales proceeds were donated to The Butterfly Foundation & 25% of any print sales will continue to be donated.

This work has been featured in the Redfield Plugins Group and the Colour me a Rainbow Group ….....thanks so much to the moderators….... this one was inspired by a book i have on insects i was looking at it and thought they looked drab so i want to jazz them up a bit and so being influenced by Andy Warhol and some tiles i have in the shed lol see its already so convoluted ,but anyway it all came together in my wacky brain and this is the outcome ,,,,,,,,, firstly i sketched them then added colour by following the book i used corel brushes as usual got impasto in there for depth and then put them together Warhol style , i wanted some deep texture so into photoshop and played there with layers and filters till i got something i liked….... This flower grows on the lush banks of my imagination. It’s difficult to define whether it is a flower or a butterfly. When it’s asleep I suppose it is a flower, but when it wakes, as it is doing here, it becomes a butterfly living inside a plant and occasionally flying off for a while. I used coloured pencils for this. And yes, I was a little inspired by Tiffany lampshades :) THIS WAS FEATURED BY THE FINE ARTS GROUP- 2nd July 2009.
