We wanted to send man to the moon. / We did. We wanted to supply man with a / way to communicate through fiber optics. / We did that too. Numbers, dates, / appointments all stored in a portable database. / Families neglect to interact with each other because / they all have a human counterpart that they can connect / with. Patience is a thing of the past because anything / they want is at their fingertips. Ideas are unoriginal / because they have all been thought of before; typed, dated, / and logged. ‘Royal Monarch’ has a special poignancy for me as hidden in the spectacularly obvious, ...there are indications of life’s hardships and mortality… the butterfly itself has a damaged wing and the sunflower a damaged petal… Things are not always are as they seem at face value, behind the smiling face of our friends, family and colleagues / there lie scattered amongst the shards of happiness little splinters of hardships and heart-aches… Taken just outside Mogale city (Krugersdorp) in Gauteng, RSA (Taken while test driving a Canon EOS 350D – Still with the Sigma 300mm lens on macro setting.) I can’t believe there is less than 250 Sumatran Tigers in the wild today, and at least 2-5 a DAY are being killed for skins and alternitive medicines. It sadens me a great deal to know this… For every framed print I sell of the 3 tiger photos I upload to RedBubble, I will donate $5-$15 depending on frame size to the Wildlife Warriors – Tiger fund. This will help save the magestic animals from poachers in their native habitat. We have to help these tigers, because they can’t help themselves.. It’s up to us! Canon 50D 300mm, Australia Zoo. Butterfly carefully added, no I’m not that lucky!! :) Nominated to Pay it Forward by Susanne Correa here is what she said about it: “I would like to pay it forward to Adam Gormley / I love his work, he is very talented and most importantly he cares about the wildlife and tries to help. I picked this Image because I love the Butterfly on his nose and how real it looked.” Thanks very much Susanne, much appreciated!!

Butterflies are Free Don’t close your hand / Just close your eyes / And I will stay right by your side / And if this world turns cruel & cold / Look to the skies / Don’t you see the truth? / The power of one, the power of two / The power of me loving you CHORUS: / Butterflies are free / Free to come and go / Free to spread their wings / Know that I know / You’ll come back to me / Cause love like butterflies are free You see a light / You hear the call / And if I don’t let you fly / I don’t know you at all So go on and roam / See all that you can / Born unto this earth a curious soul / You and you alone / can make you feel whole / But don’t I add truth / you’ve never known CHORUS The tighter the grip / The more you’ll resist / It’s human nature I suppose / But I’d rather be surprised by a kiss / Then under your control CHORUS Free to come and go / Free to spread their wings / Know that I know / You’ll come back to me / Cause love like butterflies are free CHORUS CHORUS Free to come and go / Free to spread their wings / You’ll come back to me / Cause love like butterflies are free Love this song, loved the movie in the 70’s too with Goldie Hawn and Edward Albert ;) This is an old pen and ink drawing that I did so long ago, photographed and edited in photoshop7 and Redfield plug-in fractilius ~ just keep reminding myself it is Spring…

Watercolor, gouache and pencil on board, / 11×14 / 2009 The heart has a voice and a music, the same ones your spirit have recognized for many ages. The voice of your heart is the voice of freedom. Through it you’ll be able to find yourself and find your inner God. Let that voice be heard, recognize yourself as the creator of your own reality. Put aside all the masks they have made you wear in order to belong to the illusions they created. Don’t waste your life living them. Be what you are born to be.
This is my beautiful friend Nathalie, in a Tara-style portrait….all photos and textures used my own, with the exception of the original photo of Nat. :) The brightly coloured background image is a pastel drawing my girls and I did together a few weeks ago. Featured in Friends of Bangor and North Down Camera Club, Northern Ireland August 23, 2009. Best Viewed Full Size This little image is only one of nearly 400 (yes, I discovered the rapid fire thingie on the new camera over the weekend) I took of these most amazing creatures. It means the world to me that I was able to play with them as I’ve never seen a Monarch in our garden in Maryland. The “lawn” to the cabin next to ours on Blue Knob Mountain in Claysburg Pennsylvania has been left uncut all summer … and the most incredible wild vegetation has grown up. One is this pretty purple flowered stalk … which happen to be very much beloved by the Monarch Butterflies. Image taken with the Nikon D300 and the 70-300mm vr Nikon lens at shutter speed 1/160, aperture f/10.0, exp 0.00, iso 800. Focal length 220mm.
