I haven’t done a shoot in a while, so I’m a bit bored and going over some old work.
-
Um…a different take from the same shoot.

This art work is for a very good friend and wonderful abstract artist Butch. Treat yourself to a leisurely stroll through his gallery and enjoy some awesome art work with flowing movement and great color. Time well worth invested. Here’s to you Butch! :-) © Dave Moilanen 2008

Umm…I’m never sure what to write here. This work is believe it or not inspired by an old print advertisement for a perfume by Jean Paul Gaultier. I’m pretty sure but not 100% sure the photograph used was made by a couple of my favorite artists, Pierre et Gilles. ...anyhow, the end result of this work is quite different from what inspired it. I love muted, desaturated tones and the slightly solarised look of this piece. I like to think this is what a Pierre et Gilles + Eugenio Reucenco collaboration might look like.

Butch was a lovely dog. Great temperment and such an old soul!

Two friends, one bathroom, a relationship thats as personal as yours. The story unknown the situation you probably have been through. Its the anti- Valentines Day card, its the “Thank you for being my Ex (card), now get …... (card)”. Its open to interpretation and invitation to being lost in translation. All relationships end up this way. You better accept it in art form before it goes and messes you up to the point of finding yourself on the couch!

I came across this roadside memorial and thought long about Butch and who he was, whom he loved, whom loved him… Here is my tribute to him. This one’s not for sale. Couldn’t do that to Butch.

The unusually high temps from the previous day had warmed the ground, the tide levels were very high and the cool morning temps all combined to create a very dense fog that layed seige not only to the fort and every thing within miles, but also to all my equiptment. Making this a tough but rewarding composition. / The sun, in the right top background is already high in the sky and struggling to burn the fog away. It didnt happen until about 10:00 am. A beautiful day to be out and stroking the shutter. The Moat at Fort Pulaski National Monument / Cockspur Island, Georgia, USA

The dense fog on Cockspur Island on saturday monring permeates the fort. So thick the moisture rolls off the cannon like rain drops. / One can get a sense of the tensions that fill the silent air during the civil war when the fog rolled in like this.
