this is actually a very big hill and they are trees not bushes to give you a better sense of the scale of the image. If you look closely there are some people in this picture. Unusual for me in my landscape work. see if you can spot them. did I mention that this is an infrared photo ? just in case you hadn’t worked it out. :) this is it framed
Found this frogmouth this afternoon, sitting in a tree in the hinterland of the Gold Coast bush that surounds out house. Actually disturbed his dad, who flew away …he is one of two babies, there may have been more, they hide pretending they are a piece of branch. as is Panasonic DMC f 27 / f/4 / 1/66=0 sec / iso 80 / 66mm / ap 3 Just another branch or ….

“Open for Business” Photography & Artwork / by Holly Kempe © An art gallery at the historic town of Silverton in outback New South Wales, Australia. “History with its flickering lamp stumbles along the trail of the past, trying to reconstruct its scenes, to revive its echoes, and kindle with pale gleams the passion of former days.” ~Winston Churchill Competition: Top Ten placement of the Outback Australia group.
This was taken along the Princess Hwy,traveling to Bairnsdale, Victoria. It’s so sad to see the effects of the drought first hand – the paddocks lined with dead trees and in the fog were a testimony to our harsh weather AS IS
/ Holstein Friesians / Bega Valley Holstein Friesians are a crossbreed of 2 types of cow. Friesian cows were originally from Friesland in Holland and first arrived in Australia in the 1850’s. These big cows are black and white and produce lots of milk. As farmers are paid on the amount of milk they produce, Holstein Friesians are quite popular, making up more than 60% of Australia’s dairy cattle. They can cope with a broad range of temperatures and conditions.

Bumblebees are social insects that are characterized by black and yellow body hairs, often in bands. However, some species have orange or red on their bodies, or may be entirely black. Another obvious (but not unique) characteristic is the soft nature of the hair (long, branched setae), called pile, that covers their entire body, making them appear and feel fuzzy. They are best distinguished from similarly large, fuzzy bees by the form of the female hind leg, which is modified to form a corbicula; a shiny concave surface that is bare, but surrounded by a fringe of hairs used to transport pollen (in similar bees, the hind leg is completely hairy, and pollen grains are wedged into the hairs for transport). Like their relatives the honey bees, bumblebees feed on nectar and gather pollen to feed their young. I will donate 100% of proceeds from the sales of this image to The Wildlife Trusts

I was photographing the lovely red fruit on this tree with my digital camera and the busy bee came along and I thought it added interest. Not sure what the tree is. Do you know? Thank you for looking at my work and I look forward to comments. / Taken with my purse camera (Sony Cybershot 4.1) whilst waiting for an appointment time near Belmont (NSW). There must be more than 50 beautiful berries. / / . /
It’s amazing what your eyes miss at night. Long exposure photography can sometime catch colours you never thought were there.

This is a piece that I have been working on and off for a bit over 2 years. I finished it a little less than a year ago. I started it as a way to combat my homesickness having just moved out of my beautiful family home to study at university. At the time I felt like I was changing, growing up and away from the things (like painting) that I loved. The painting kind of morphed into a crazy positive painting as I grew to accept whatever change came my way and to take responsibility for what I want to do in my own time. It was almost like a streaming of my consciousness, of my favourite things, ideas, items that make me happy. As for details, it’s about 100 cm by 120 cm (approx 40” by 47”) and it’s done in acrylics on stretched canvas.
