  • What can I say? Sometimes you look up and you just have to press the shutter.

  • Smoke plumes from major fires in the British Columbia interior sometimes found their way over the Lower Mainland during the summer of 2009. The result, a smoky haze that contributed a strong sense of atmospheric perspective. During sunset, the thick pallor would cast the waning light an unusual, eerie and very spectacular orange to red color. Once, during an intense (and equally unusual) thunderstorm, lighting sizzled from a sky the color of fire. This image shows downtown Vancouver high rises standing amid haze produced by fires hundreds of kilometers away. The vantage is from the patio at the fine restaurant Seasons in the Park, located in Queen Elizabeth Park, a great place to watch nightfall.
