Wahine is a pencil drawing which I’ve coloured in digitally. I used the actual image for the background by liquifying it, stretching it and adding in some blue hues…. wa·hi·ne (wä-hn, n) also va·hi·ne (vä) / n. / 1. Hawaii A Polynesian woman. / 2. Sports A woman surfer. / original pencil drawing “Wahine” has been nominated by gottheshot for the prestigious Pay It Forward Group His comment is “Her work is what I would call ‘authentic’. By this I mean that her work has an Asian style together with a – may I say ‘cutesy’ feel to it. The work has elements of deail, fun, asian culture – which all come together in a great portfolio of work. My single nomination which is incredibly difficult is Wahine. I chose this particular piece ocs of the great detail in the eyes of the work. It reminds me of anime in Japan. The bigger the eyes, the more detail within it – just fantastic.” Thank you so much gottheshot for nominating me, and thank you to the hosts of Pay it Forward who work so hard on this wonderful group.

Acrylic on Acrylic board. By Kyle Bultman, aged 11. Exploring acrylic painting with some of my students. Kyle used an online image as reference. I helped him with details, as he is just starting out in drawing and painting. In painting the image, we followed a very exacting regime, essentially adopting/adapting the ‘Flemish’ technique as closely as possible. A bit ambitious perhaps, but the students are ‘learning’ and the technique seemed to require less ‘tidying up’ and fixing. The painting in progress/ grey toned ‘underpainting’: Finished

2nd Image… One of my Best Friends is Pregnant and so I was Shocked about that sort of news… Just isn’t something you expect a Friend to say to you out of the blue… I have always respected Women and the Gift they possess for Creation of Life… So its been on my Mind for the last few days and due to lack of inspiration the past week or so for new art work I decided to Alter a few of my older Works that would work well with Creation of Life and a Womans Form, Body…. and to try and celebrate that in my own way… I know the idea behind the images are not new and a Popular example of something like My images is that of “2001: A Space Odyssey” but that Image has always been in my mind ever since I first saw the Movie god knows how long ago… so is about time and I think is the right time since my Friends news that I make a few of my own… Will try and think about a new image from scratch with this idea in mind… This is the 2nd Image I have made on this idea…
Model – Vintage Vixen Let me tell you, those heart marshmallows smelt and looked a HELL of a lot better than they tasted. Gluten sugar free crap… but damn they were cute :D Copyright 2008 Harmony Nicholas
Hopefully the title says it all. A couple commented on perhaps the reality/unreality of the image. It is a 3D render, using photographed skin for a shader and High Dynamic Range Lighitng a spotlight and Global Illumination. Thus contributing to the ‘realistic’ side of it. Skin normally has light penetrate the surface and bouncing around (Sub Surface Scattering). This was not turned on. Also, I gave it a High Key filter (NIK software). These two helped add to the unreality of an already unreal model.. It is normally possible to add to ‘photo reality’ in photoshop. I did another render with Sub Surface Scattering turned on and tried a few things in photoshop. I didn’t spend that much time in Photoshop, but I would be interested if anyone thinks they look more ‘photographic’ even with a quick couple of filters on top.
