The Lady of Shalott / Alfred, Lord Tennyson Who is this? And what is here? / And in the lighted palace near / Died the sound of royal cheer / And they crossed themselves for fear / All the Knights at Camelot / But Lancelot mused a little space / He said, ‘she has a lovely face; / God in his mercy lend her grace / The Lady of Shalott.’
Taken at high speed. Kinda artsy, but still an interesting capture I felt.

This is a Cory Bustard. They are a highly protected bird, and this is the first time I have ever seen one. Their feathers are prized possessions of classic salmon fly tiers all over the world. The demand for their feather has driven their number down dramatically. One feather from this bird will run between $300 – $1200 dollars FOR ONE FEATHER! The problem is, you have people out there that don’t care that they molt their feather yearly, and want to sell their feathers now. Thank god those people are being targeted big time. I have around 20 of these feathers given to me by Feathersmc for tying only. They have an agreement with zoos around the U.S. who have these birds on display. The zoos send John the feathers that molt, he in turn distributes these feathers free of charge to fly tiers in the U.S. only. Upon receipt of these feathers, you agree to tie up 3 or so flies to be sent to various zoos for conservation and education reasons. ALSO, you agree not to sell these feathers under any condition, violate that agreement, and you get to see the inside of a courtroom. It’s a very good program, and this is a magnificent bird, it stands around 4ft tall.
Thanks so much for stopping by—my other work can be seen by theme here….......

These wily coyotes are forcing me to get sneakier and sneakier to get decent shots. But there’s a limit as to how sneaky I can be. For this shot, I’m hiding back in the reeds at the edge of the marsh (only a viable spot when the ground is frozen, otherwise it’s a bit stinky and sinky, if you know what I mean . . .). Not only that, but I’m using some camo material to try to hide the silhouette of my tripod and myself. That only works for a couple of seconds, as the coyotes spot me very quickly when the shutter fires. I need a longer lens. Anyone hoping to donate a Minolta 600mm f/4 can contact me here on RB.
