  • ~ life in the bush ~
    by adgray

Who’d want a city life / with it’s hustle bustle streets / when you can live in peace in the bush

Inspired by the awesome photography of Steven Joyce and his latest upload of The Old Cottage / When I saw this I thought of lace doilies and home made jam’s and cordials, the sound of the birds and the smells of the bush and the bliss of the peace. / My soul longs to go up country and I mean up – the plains High Country, the bush of the hinterland, away from the doldrums of the city! / But with the price of petrol and the cost of living it is just a dream until my youngest is old enough to not need me. Then I can think of moving and to keep my dream alive I will save my pennies, to find my own piece of heaven and quit the city for good! / Come with me? Enjoy! :O) / Chookas! ♥

  • ~ Soft the Water Flows ~
    by adgray

Where do these paths I take lead me / through bends and bush and plain

Another bubble art inspired verse… sorry good art just moves me to poetry :o) / This new artist I have discovered is Di Jenkins and her work is Split Stream This is a place I hold dear to my heart. I cannot count the times I’ve hiked the tracks of Kirth Kiln! .... well for the last 30 years I have been a scout and Gembrook is the home of our scouting world in Victoria – Gilwell Scout camp! Right next door to Kirth Kiln. But beware NEVER swim in the Lochin alone! [the little lake that feeds this stream, situated by the bridge of the road at the boarder of the camp and the forest] – even on the hottest summer day the water would barely reach 5’’C !!! Definitely takes your breath away! / Thank you for this gorgeous shot that takes me home to my stomping ground :o) [Literally!] Please view Di’s amazing portfolio / Enjoy & Keep Happy! :o)

    by adgray

They say life is a journey of chosen paths … If I could my paths would be mostly in our gorgeous Australian bush!

They say life is a journey of chosen paths … If I could my paths would be mostly in our gorgeous Australian bush! Wanna come for a stroll with me and smell the fresh eucalypt filled air and be serenaded by the whip and bell of the Lyre bird and dance to the orchestra of our amazing bush! Inspired again by a fellow bubbler’s fine photography! / Please view Ian Moses piece The bush track

  • Bush Fire
    by Estelle O'Brien

    Sap bleeding hues..

Please also see sweetscent62 ’s beautiful “Bushfire” painting which this poem is proud to accompany. I live in rough mountianous terrian in one of the most bushfire prone areas in the world. With summer temperatures often in the mid 40s and strong winds – watching the sky for smoke is a constant subconscious summertime habit. However, bushfire is a natural phenomenon and some gum tree seeds do not germinate unless they are burnt by fire. We are surrounded by thousands of beautiful eucalypts of many varieties…I have seen them devastated by fire only to return stronger than ever the next year or two. We have also just come through a seven years drought and although gum trees are so hardy, a few didn’t make it.

  • Dusty Trails
    by Simone Byrne

I love the smell of Summer, all the essence that it brings, / And the magic that it oozes as the season first begins… read on…

© Simone Byrne 15th June, 1996. / All Rights Reserved. Back before I was a photographer my artistic endeavors were more slanted towards writing poetry, Aussie bush poetry to be precise. For me it was a way of remembering the good times I spent with my horses riding through the bush as I was growing up. Hope you enjoy the yarns, of course you realize that the more outrageous the tale, the more the likely hood of it being true! This poem is written about the joy of riding my gorgeous Thoroughbred boy Ringo through the Aussie bush in the late 80’s. Even now more than 20 years on, I still think back fondly to these times and I can still smell the dust and bush fragrances and feel the wind in my face. Ahh, that was life!!

  • ~ Meet At The Gate ~
    by adgray

Meet me at the gate when you sneak out after dark / I’ll help you with your homework for a kiss

  • Perfect Place
    by Bev Woodman

This place … this perfect place …

The love of the bush was handed down to me by my pioneering background and especially my Papa and my father – I followed them while growing up through bush tracks and up creeks, over rocks and down gullies. We swatted flies, side stepped snakes, pulled off juicy leaches and admired nature at its best. This poem is for them – who taught me all I know. This poem remains the property of Beverley Woodman and may not be copies or reproduced in any way without the written authority of the author.

  • ~ natures repeat ~
    by adgray

Sleeping for ages in cold slumber / waiting for fierce heat / seeds scattered there from long ago / ready for natures repeat

Here in Australia our Bush is regenerated by fire! For new growth to happen the whole place has to go up in smoke in huge bushfires to generate the ferocious heat to crack the seedpods and start the new growth again. so what looks like a moonscape the day after the fire will within a few short days resemble a mossy landscape! The awesome Mr Steven Sass posted this shot of after the fire and sparked off my words again! / See we love the green & gold of our bush! Chookas! ♥

  • ~ ode to the chimney ~
    by adgray

Usually first erected / and used every day of it’s life / built to last an eternity / by many a man and his wife

Right across the country paddocks, of here and no doubt anywhere in the world, there are chimneys standing – a memorial to the old homesteads that once stood there! The wonderful Peter Kurdulija posted a view of this one and these words came to me in memory of all those chimneys and the families who lived by them. / Chookas! ♥

For me it was a way of remembering the good times I spent with my horses riding through the bush as I was growing up. Hope you enjoy the yarns, of course you realize that the more outrageous the tale, the more the likely hood of it being true! This particular yarn is about the area where I used to keep my horse, Ringo. A lot of my yarns are about him in some way, I guess this poem stemmed from our long rides around Mandurang bushland and the critters we used to meet on those rides.

  • Bet a Pound or Two
    by Simone Byrne

We’ve come from up the country where the air is thick with dust, / ‘Cause we heard about a challenge and to see it was a must… read on…

This poem is dedicated to my dad who was a mad keen punter and used to be an ‘old fashioned’ stockman who went droving cattle with his dad when he was a boy.

  • Dear Mr. Bush
    by Snoboardnlife

Every time I see you on the television, / More and more people in this country, / Really begin to hate you everyday.

This was another one where the first letter of each word spells out the title. Since I first started doing this I have really liked it a lot and continue to do more stuff like this.
