Best viewed large. Side view of the three cascades at the top tier of National Falls, / Royal National Park just south of Sydney Australia. From here the water drops 25m to a couple of shallow pools before dropping over a 50m fall which is almost inaccessible. Working on finding a way to these large falls but they are in a ravine and haven’t succeeded yet. We’ve been in a long drought so these falls have been mostly non-existent for the last couple of years. It’s good to see them flowing so freely again. / Tv: 10secs / Av: f13 / ISO 100 / FL: 33mm

The Town of Bassendean is located approximately 10 kilometres north-east of Perth and 5 minutes from the Swan Valley vineyards. With a total area of 11 square kilometres, the Town is bounded by the Swan River, the City of Swan to the north and the City of Bayswater to the west. It has a river frontage of 7 kilometres. flora and fauna The Swan River is a scenic treasure, a playground, a natural drain and functional ecosystem. The trees and shrubs, rushes and sedges prevent soil erosion along the river. The nearby wetlands provide a natural habitat for frogs, water birds and tortoises. Our natural parks are home to birds such as silver-eyes, honeyeaters, willie wagtails, grey fantails, white-tailed black cockatoos, Australian kestrels, white cockatoos and the pink-and-grey galah, to name a few. The Bassendean Preservation Group works with the Council to preserve our natural bushland and wetlands. Captured with Nikon D40X. 18-55mm Lens. /

Photo taken by collegue Simon Frankel. Then edited in Photoshop by myself. Thankyou to Simon for allowing me to post the photo. This was not a sand storm as some may think. Just over the hill was a raging fire that was taking control in 2006. They were taken at Pike River during the bush fire that burnt out around 120,000 hectares of scrub just north of the Riverland. / It was a mixture of smoke, stormy grey cloud and some sun trying to break through.

The Steps – Barrington River was shot early one April morning at a spot on the Barrington River known locally as The Steps, which are the lines of rock across the river at different levels, in the background. The Barrington River flows behind The Buckets, the small but rugged mountain range towering beside Gloucester in northern NSW, where I was born, as were my father and his 6 brothers. Grandma, who was raised not far from where this photograph was taken on a sprawling cattle property, gave up trying for a daughter after the 7th son was born, but she lived to the ripe old age of 103. This is my Dad’s favourite photograph of mine. He and his 6 brothers are all still kickin’. There’s hope for me yet.

Each time I find something new on this computer, it’s like opening a present. I just found the equalizer button and when I press that and the shadow/highlight button I found the other day, it’s a whole new world. Well, slightly different.
