Storm clouds drift past after rain, and this charming stone cottage in the Southern Flinders Ranges is bathed in sunlight ,gleaming crisply on a bed of bright green pasture land / Taken with Fuji S2 Pro,Nikor 24-85mm @85m
This ruin just outside Burra in South Australia was made famous as the cover art of Midnight Oil’s classic 1986 album Diesel and Dust / While there are many ruins in this area – the gateway to the outback – this oneis the most photogenic due to its classic shape and relative completeness. The rolling hills in the background also make for a picturesque scene. Just don’t be tempted to jump the fence as an ominous “No Trespassing” sign leaves you in no doubt this is an inhospitable area not only for the original settlers, but pesky tourists as well, especially those with cameras!

Burra to Morgan Landscape, South Australia
Burra ruins, outback South Australia. / Derelict early settler buildings are everywhere. Peeling paintwork and brick ruins combined here with the drought yellow backdrop of the parched South Australian landscape. / Burra S.A. 24.3.08
This is under the London Bridge Rock formation in Burra NSW. This is at the end of the road I live on, London Bridge Road. It can be found at the lower end of Googong Dam via Burra. The picture doesn’t do justice to how large it is. Unfortunately it is hard to get down there to get a good photo in good light as the gates don’t open until 8am and close off at 5pm and no one is allowed into the area even on foot other than when the gates are open. The area is quite popular on the weekend for families as there are some lovely easy walks in the area and picnic areas. It makes my quiet little road quite busy on weekends with people driving out for a trip from Canberra to explore.
Taken on my way to work this morning.
Kookaburra in my garden.
Ruins growing out of a golden field of canola crop .This is the same location that Mid-Night Oil used for one of their disc covers, only theirs featured bare earth.

Right, back to Shetland! There may be a perception of these wonderful northern isles as being barren, cold, wet and windy. Well, yes and no. True Shetland does have its moments and far be it from me to encourage too many people to visit these unspoiled lands(!) but summer sunshine can be plentiful and the beauty of the Islands undeniable. / This is Shonah taking a stroll along Banna Min beach on West Burra. True enough we did see someone else there but hardly ruined by the crowds;-) Hope it brings lovely summery thoughts to you all! Taken on a recent holiday to Binna Burra (Lamington National Park) Burrajum Falls along the Coomera Circuit, definitely one of the most stunning walks I’ve ever done. To get the best light for shots, we started walking at about 4:45am, was definitely worth the early rise! We definitely felt accomplished after walking 43km in three days too!
