Close up of Burmese cat.

response to the lack of outside communication with the people of Burma and the juntas heavy and unrelenting control of the media
This is one of my favorite kitties. (I have three so they are all my favorites). / We were putting up an artificial Christmas tree one year and Reese decided to climb it and perch herself on one of the limbs to look out the window. She looks so snooty. I adopted her from the Humane Society about 7 years ago and I believe she is a Burmese or a Burmese mix. She has pretty much all the traits of a Burmese.
A day trip from Mandalay, Burma.. Sagaing sits on the Ayeyarwady River and has a peaceful lookout across a landscape speckled with the golden stupas of temples.
Pronounced Rowbee. / This is the owner of the house. He is a brown Burmese. 2 yrs old. / A real character Fuji S9500 / Shot in RAW / Processed s7raw /
Wasn’t an easy life for a chap as his Mother, sister and neice were also residents. But his was pretty stoic soul and in any case he was able to retreat to my lap. / The women in his life were pretty good ratters round the farm. Jasper used to sit at a good observation point. I was never sure if he was supervising the hunt or just watching.
A market find… Yes, I’ve been there… but this one was in Melbourne, Australia!

A portrait of my black Burmeses, Siamese cross cat, Pepa. Yes, the birds are safe… Pepa wears a collar with two bells… and besides, chasing birds is considered to be too much like hard work by Pepa! Acrylic, fabric, crayon, pen & ink on canvas board / 350mm x 450mm / Sydney 2006

This ACEO / miniature art (2.5×3.5 inches) was completed in coloured pencil on drafting film. Reference photo was a gorgeous photo of a little cat called Fry taken by Kaibara87 http://www.flickr.com/photos/kaibara/2982584712/in/set-72157615715533447/ (flickr creative commons). This arwork is part of a series entitled “Cat’s Eyes Gems”, which includes Emerald Eyes and Sapphire Eyes. / The pencils used were mostly oil pencils – Faber Castell Polychromos and Lyra, but also used Prismacolor Verithins for some of the finer detail.

Hello everyone – here to meet you (and I assure you this took some considerable effort!) is the third of the cats we have come to temporarily share a home with. Her name – when anyone manages to get close enough to her to call her by her name – is Coco. I assume it’s something to do with her appearance and colour – she is half pure breed Burmese. She is also almost totally wild. Yes, someone DID actually manage to get close enough to her once to put a collar on her, but this was only with the most delicate bribery with the most delicious food, and at the cost of the most severely scratched hands and arms. Yes, Coco does eat the cat food that is put out every day, she also scavenges for anything she can find – wherever it may be. Where exactly Coco spends most of her time, I haven’t the faintest idea. None of us see her very often, other than as a flash of darkest brown disappearing out of the corner of our eyes. But then again – we can never even be sure that these ‘flashes of dark brown’ we just about see are actually Coco. Unless we also hear the slight tingling of the bell on her collar. Because Coco also has a sister. Her sister cat is exactly the same colour and appearance as Coco. The only noticeable difference is that while Coco HAS been forced to submit to the indignity of having a collar put on her, no-one has managed to catch her sister to do the same to her. Coco’s sister cat – I unhesitatingly say – IS WILD. So – for now, I will have to leave you with these portraits of only 3 of the cats we live with (this one of Coco was ‘caught’ in semi-darkness too – My Sony Alpha 350, 50mm Lens f2.8 1/13 Sec Exp, ISO 800. I have not yet managed to even move slowly enough to lift my camera to my eye without making our 4th feline co-habitant bolt for the nearest hidey hole on the extremely few occasions I have caught sight of her – still – in the open. This is one of my goals to achieve before we move back home – to manage to capture a half-way decent photograph of Coco’s sister. To do that, I am sure I need to ‘tame’ her even just a little. I have no idea if this is possible. But – I’ve got some really yummy cat treats… who knows… maybe? FEATURED IN ‘SONY SHOOTERS’! FEATURED IN ‘BLACK WITH A HINT OF COLOUR’!
One of our beautiful burmese cats. Leodhas is a lilac burmese.
Comissioned pet photo shoot, this beautful boy cat called Vanilla was a pleasure to shoot. A bit camera shy, but what cat loves the constant flash in their eyes? I’m sure it’s a Burmese breed, silky smooth fur, with beautiful golden eyes. Canon 5D Mk II, 50mm. Available large, I hope you enjoy your beautiful Vanilla!
