As I was just finishing up taking photos with a friend of mine I saw this scene and just couldn’t resist. I quickly set up Automatic exposure bracketing just the be sure and this is the result. Shot: Canon 400D + Canon 10-22 f/3.5 – f/4.5 @ 1/200, 1/400 (-1), 1/100 (+1), f/10, ISO100. Post-Processing: I used Photomatix to blend the three exposures and then applied some curves and levels masks as well as some sharpening in Adobe Photoshop CS3.

When I am an old horsewoman / I shall wear turquoise and diamonds, / And a straw hat that doesn’t suit me / And I shall spend my social security on / white wine and carrots, / And sit in my alleyway of my barn / And listen to my horses breathe. I will sneak out in the middle of a summer night / And ride the old bay gelding, / Across the moonstruck meadow / If my old bones will allow / And when people come to call, I will smile and nod / As I walk past the gardens to the barn / and show instead the flowers growing / inside stalls fresh-lined with straw. I will shovel and sweat and wear hay in my hair / as if it were a jewel / And I will be an embarrassment to all / Who will not yet have found the peace in being free / to have a horse as a best friend / A friend who waits at midnight hour / With muzzle and nicker and patient eyes / For the kind of woman I will be / When I am old.

/ Burley`s most infamous inhabitant lived there during the 1950s – a white witch named Sybil Leek. She wandered through the village with her pet jackdaw and was an authority on New Forest life, having spent much of her time living with Forest gypsies. /

Cygnets is a black & white portrait featuring two of the resident swans that call Commonwealth Park in Canberra home. Behind the scenes / Cygnets like most young animals tend not to venture too far from their parents and siblings. This can make photographing them a bit challenging as there’s always a beak or wing that doesn’t belong. It can be used creatively though as with this image to depth to the image and fill an area o the frame that would otherwise be blurred water. / Canon 1Ds mkIII | EF 100-400mm Artwork / Take it home, to the office or share it as a gift, this is a unique and stylish image ideal for framing. © 2008 A Spence. I have a real ‘thing’ for the tree and rock formations that abound in this area of NSW (Australia). I was so pleased to have the opportunity to pass through again recently and take heaps of shots. This really typifies the Aussie countryside for me. Landscapes Trees Cards EOD Rusty Flowers Architecture Macro CatchAll DM
