  • As calm as this image looks, the waves crashing over the rocks were huge. I had to grab my gear and jump out of the way of the waves numerous times to capture this image. Captured 10-15 minutes before sunrise. Camera – Fuji GX617 / Film – Fuji Velvia 100 To see more of my work please visit www.gallerym-australia.com

  • About The last sunrise of 2008! Taken at Burleigh Heads, Queensland. This was the first time for me there and Lance. It’s a sweet spot and looks fantastic for Sunset also. Climbing down to the the rocks is a little tricky though, rather slippery but no match for my Keen’s! I was sitting on a rock when I took this. The interesting thing is the surfers – they just jump across the rocks in bare feet! There was a large group of them later in the surf with an purple flare – I assume to signal the end of 2008! - ISO 100, f11, 21 sec, 10mm / - Sigma 10-20mm Lens / - Tripod with sand in the joints Processing - HDR using Photomatix (2, 0, 2) / Unsharp mask / - Soft Light Layer / - Dodging and burning to bring out the rocks a bit more / - Noise Ninja in Photoshop to remove excess noise / - Horizon straighten and resulting crop

  • The start of the golden hour, great light to shoot, and unlike New Zealand your feet don’t go numb in the surf. Shot at Burleigh Heads beach near Mermaids restaurant / Chocolate Chips

  • I just love the feel of the water, the colour in the sky, I never expected to get a sunset image at Burleigh, this is lovely. Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm nikkor lens. / Last set of the day

  • About An OK sunset with some nice blue hour love. High tide was at 5.54pm, sunset about 6pm – so the waves were coming in hard. I was surprised by the surfers paddling out at dusk, but the waves were 1 -2 metres, sometimes even 3 metres – awesome. - ISO 100, f22, 30secs, 10mm / - Sigma 10-20mm / - Cokin Grad 4 (P121M) Processing 1) Import into Lightroom as RAW / a) Curves / b) Soft Light Layer in Photoshop / c) Recovery / d) Grad filters to bring out the sky / e) Slight Crop / 2) Export using Flickr Uploader and LR2/Mogrify plugin

  • / Oil on board , done a few years ago and just re=photgraphed for R,b,

  • A slightly more processed image of the amazingly atmospheric and stormy sunset at Burleigh this afternoon. I have deliberately over-processed this image to accentuate the emerald green of the highrise buildings and the ocean, against the brilliant sunset light, glowing strongly through the storm clouds and rain. The tired but happy surfer timed his exit from the water perfectly too. This image almost feels like a caricature of the view from Burleigh Heads, and I like that somehow. Location: Burleigh beach, Gold Coast, QLD. / Date: 27th June 2009 [Creative Effects: Contrast/Brightness/Shadow adjustments, Omni Spotlight, Image Crop with Photoshop CS3] Image details: Camera: Canon EOS400D (Lens: EF-S18-55mm) / Shutter Speed: 1/60 / Aperture Value: f 6.3 / Focal Length: 41.0 mm / ISO Speed: 400
