  • Infinity
    by Natalie Perkins

    US$4.56–US$121.60

For my fiance. / / One of my design heroes is Marian Bantjes – if you don’t know who she is you MUST google her right now. This was partly a Valentine’s present for my fiance and partly an experiment and study into Bantjes’ awesome typographic styling. / / I started by sketching out overlapping circles in my sketchbook, and then I played around with the letterforms, and linking every letter to each other. After scanning the drawing, I brought it into Illustrator and refined the forms some more. I didn’t use autotrace, because / a) that’s cheating and / b) it produces really crap results :P / / The pattern behind the word infinity is one called “Heart or Spade”, which is currently up at Naked and Angry – go vote for it! / / / / This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-No Derivative Works 2.5 Australia License

welcome .. come on in and have a seat … chilly night out, yes? ... I started a log in the fireplace .. should warm us up a bit … anything to drink? ... please be comfortable … I rarely get company nowadays … people are beginning to think I’m becoming a recluse .. lol … I think they just don’t like coming out here .. too far off the beaten path …..... a little music? good … ah let’s see … how about Sergei Rachmaninoff playing his 2nd piano concerto in c minor ... so very nice for a night like this …. oh it’s his recording with the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra … think it was directed by Leopold Stokowski … you remember him don’t you? he was oh how would you say .. oh so theatrical and bit of a renegade … I so loved to watch him wave his hands around lol … and I so love this concerto … I choose it on purpose .. you must know that .. yes? ah yes … yes it was .. we went together .. oh what an elegant pair we made .. or so we thought lol …. ah it seems just like yesterday .. the years certainly have flown by …. do you remember how when we met Sergei after the concert .. how he went on and on about feeling and creating from the heart? he was so passionate about his work … not like Prokofiev … remember what Sergei said of Prokofiev? lol … he does not exalt .. he broods … lol ….... all that and with that delightful Russian accent ….... what a night that was ….. where did we go after that? I can’t seem to remember …. we did? over to Dottie’s? oh yes now I remember … that god awful boring party of hers … bunch of stuffed shirts .. lol … Mr. and Mrs. Roger Higgersfeld …. oh my yes I remember now .. the old baffoon … keep talking on and on and on about politics and to the point that even Sir Jeffrey was beginning to yawn … wonder what ever happened to him … last I heard he was off to Bavaria or some such place … another drink? could you put another log on the fire for me please … it is quite chilly out tonite …. here’s your drink, deary … ah yes that really was a great concert … yes listening to it does bring back so many memories …. listen … the theme is played here again … there is a yearning yes? ... oh yes I so agree .. there is hope too … and when all else fails there is always hope … / . / — / . / suggest if you’ve read this far that you read all the comments and my replies … you’ll find out what happened to Sir Jeffrey and what the shawl was designed after (big smile) .. and who know what other tidbits you might find (grin) / . / This is the another in a series of Shawls I’ve been working on with stories to go along with these images like this mini story (big smile) ... no critique asked for .. it’s not perfect but I hope it pleases you while you listen to the music and view my work (big smile) best viewed large …. work done in PaintShopPro and Gimp

  • Mourning Dress
    by David Roman

    US$3.99–US$106.40

As I sat and watched the evening news with my wife and older sister we all sat and slowly cried as we watched our dying city. The city took us to some small town out in the middle of Texas. / And left us there like some old clothes that had been rejected. And as we sat and watched this TV in the middle of the day remembering all the life we had before Katrina came an swept it all away! It wasn’t very long ago we walked down its lively streets and mingled with the visitors down on old Bourbon Street. One week before the waters came and washed our souls away and now were living in a place that feels like some old grave! Please tell me Mr News caster whens all the promises gonna come? And finally take us back to home like all our leaders said. It looks to me that all along they knew they lied to us, so we sit here crying in this dying place as we watch the evening news. And I wonder Mr President while you spend billions on your war could you maybe give a little to rebuilding the 9th Ward? And another thing Mr President can you answer this small thing will we ever see that place called home our old New Orleans?
