In this art work I stand on a broken clock being licked by flames. The flames circle around in a heart shape showing my zeal for healing. The significance of this piece is that the clock is the watch I had in my pocket the day my entire world changed. The crack in it isn’t a digital manipulation. When I look at this piece I am reminded that for me, at the very moment the watch was broken, my life stopped. It stopped until I had the strength and support to stand on my feet and start again; start the healing process with burning zeal. Currently the pocket watch hangs in my library above the fireplace. I see it everyday. It symbolizes that I had the strength and support to not return. It symbolizes that I had the strength and support to stop in the fire when needed. This is the poem that accompanies the art. It was written specifically for the piece: I will not stand still or hope without cause / Or leave my mind burdened with baggage / Leave it weeping and tired. / Moments of joy skip over my sorrow filled mind / Like rocks on a pond they sink never to resurface / But not today / Today in a sigh of relief I began to breathe, to really breathe. Tired shoulders hold burdens not even mine / Responsibility heaped upon them high like great mountains and someone else’s / Crimes attached to my spine to mark each step as black and dirty, black and dirty. / But today, the weight of yesterday and the fear of tomorrow slip down the back of my neck like a cold chill / I shiver at the thought of this freedom / At the thought of not wearing regret upon my heart or guilt as shoes / I wonder how I will walk with feet unbound / With burdens that are only mine / With dreams that come true or ones I toss away at my choosing / I wonder how I walk with feet unbound. Art and poem were created by F. Magdalene Austin / SUNDRIP – Art for Life .
this is my ghana; the ghana where women build the nation balancing work, motherhood and responsibility with feminine grace. the ghana where the infinite inner strength of its women reigns with the peace and tranquillity of their confidence of success. the ghana that carries all her burdens and never gives up, but just keeps looking ahead.

Based of a quick sketch I made, the image is inspired by the scripture “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest” (matthew 11:28) except I wanted to add a touch of ambiguity, is the figure refusing help, or reaching out for it? Not sure if that comes across or not.
Cranky. cranky. My next one will be more uplifting.
A branch of the white acacia tree, a widely spread tree here in Southern Hungary, seemingly bent under the burden of all the blossoms; there is also a pink variety that blossoms slightly later. The scent of these blossoms is overpowering.. it is a sweet, ‘grapey’ smell. I am sure one of the scents in Paradise must be the perfume of the Acacia Tree.
This little silkworm was crawling up this blade of grass. In doing so it encountered a raindrop which promptly attached itself to his behind. Despite his heavy burden he persisted until he finally made it to the top! :) Photo taken on my property in Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada. The heavy heart sinks to the bottom of the pool of existence, / oblivious to the beauty of the ripples it creates across the surface of time… Self-absorbed, such a burdened heart, drifts slowly downwards in darkness, unaware of the magic that occurs when its waves touch the shore and return, or intermingle with the ripples of others to create intricate patterns of light and colour. / In the downward spiral, the heavy heart remains blind to the sacred art of its passing where the circles of light extend ever outwards, revealing new directions it might have taken if it had only once let go and looked up… PLEASE view larger…

This is Lon, Ball and Porge who were three of the original squirrel members of the famous group The Animals. Eric Burden thought they were too hairy on stage so he sacked them and they then joined a small group called the The Beatles along with the forth member of the band called Bingo. Although their names suited the band they sadly left shortly after because they didn’t think they would do any good in the world of pop music. So now 40 years on (and don’t they look great for their age) they are back and their group is now called; The Hairy Fur Balls Bingo decided to work in the world of TV as a narrator for Thomas The Tank Engine series and did quite well from it. I found the three of them rehearsing a little number called Nutbush City Limits by Ike & Tina Turner within the grounds of the Forty Hall Estate which is in Enfield, England.
