  • A wierd contradiction happens in Africa. People are so very poor, the only clothes they can get are those given away by charity or sold for a pittance by second hand dealers. Such organisations or traders get their clothes ultimately from the charity bins you and I donate to. Therefore people living in abject poverty wear outfits with brand names emblazoned on them such as: Timberland, Nike or Ralph Lauren. The same names people in the west pay a lot for. Ironic? Yes. Amusing? Yes a little. I came across this beautiful young girl in the ruins of broken lava, homelessness and chaos. She was wearing a light blue dress and carrying a burberry hand bag. Classic. And there’s a trucker cap. / Hey, doin’ good needn’t mean you can’t be cool at the same time. • I was stuck on the footpath selling raffle tickets (i had to for an old friend) and it was raining and miserable. All i had with me was a pen, a magazine and a very bored imagination…. pen drawing with composition arranged in photoshop

  • It reminds some of tartan, and me bit a little bit of fashionista (as those who know me wouldn’t say!), of burberry. But really, it’s layers of stripes and cross stripes-can’t help any connection! I was a little bit inspired by steve’s drips (not that I hadn’t just used drips in the last couple of paintings! eg the fish) / -just to keep going with it as I really want to develop my abstract abilities-it’s such an art! I love layers and textures and want people to feel like they can touch the paintings. (therefore, they are textured and coated with a veneer which makes them easy to clean!)

  • Once “Elements of Burberry” (as named on this site!), it has made a miraculous transformation into “Weaving Light”. I like it better now. Though I love to paint layers and layers…so we’ll see! Again!

You can see the link reference here BRITAIN / Chav, Chava or Charva or Charver is a derogatory term applied to certain young people in the United Kingdom. The stereotypical image of a chav is a white aggressive teen or young adult, of working class background, who wears branded sports and casual clothing, who often fights and engages in petty criminality, and is often assumed to be unemployed or in a low paid job. The term may originate from the Romani language. In its English form, the term is generally derogative, and has appeared in mainstream dictionaries in 2005. / / Caricature of a chav. The term chav has many regional alternatives; its North East England variant charva or charv, used in Tyne and Wear. Charver was a common word of wide but not all-embracing popularity in Newcastle throughout the latter half of the 19th century, synonymous with lad or kid, and derivative of chawvo, a Romany expression meaning “a young person, a friend”. During the 1990s, charver underwent a semantic disfigurement, and massive growth in usage within speakers of Geordie and some related dialects. Its shift in meaning was towards that of an insult; at this point charver and chav became synonyms, although the latter was yet to enter common parlance. It is likely that the term chav is a recent derivative of charver, but also possible that the two words are entirely etymologically distinct. Other equivalents to chav include scally, prevalent in north-west England (particularly Liverpool) and townie, a word now seemingly enveloped by chav. Similar words in use outside England include ned or scunner in Scotland, spide or skanger in Ireland, and spide, milly (from Mill-girl) and steek in Northern Ireland. Response to the term has ranged from amusement to criticism that it is a new manifestation of classism. One BBC TV documentary suggested that chav is an evolution of previous working-class youth subcultures associated with particular commercial clothing styles, such as mods, skinheads and casuals. However, chav is not a straight synonym for “working class person”; it refers to a specific mode of behaviour, dress and speech that is far from universal amongst the British working class.[citation needed]). The term has been associated with juvenile delinquency, the ASBO Generation and yob culture. / / / ART CLASSICS BRAND IMAGE BRITAIN DRUGS SAYINGS SEXUAL INNUENDO BRITAIN ANIMAL SERIES ART TO WEAR BIRDS CATS AND DOGS SERIES CELTIC SERIES CUTE SERIES DID I HEAR YOU RIGHT SERIES DIGITAL SERIES EINSTEIN SERIES FOR F*’s AKE SERIES GAY SERIES KISS SERIES LINE DRAWING SERIES MANAGRAM SERIES NATIVE AMERICAN SERIES PALINDROME AND AMBIGRAM SERIES PHALLUS SERIES PISS TAKE SERIES RUDE FOOD SERIES SEASONAL SERIES SIGN AND SYMBOL SERIES SMILE SERIES TEXT ONLY SERIES UK POLITICS UNDERWEAR SERIES VINTAGE BURLESQUE SERİES WTF IS THAT ALL ABOUT?
