The colours in the Kimberley are so vivid with everything becoming red just before sunset. Watching this sunset with a drink (and a camera and tripod) was a joy!

I suppose you could say right place at the right time…magic! Bungle Bungle Western Australia
The Bungle Bungles are an amazing landscape with beehive domes as far as the eye can see. This gorge can be walked up for the day, or overnight and is not a walk done by most. Around ever corner is another jaw dropping landscape. We were lucky to be there when there was still a little water around. You do get the impression though of what a different place this might be when there is water rushing down this creek in the wet. Another beautiful little corner of the Kimberley!
This gorge is in the Bungle Bungles (Purnulu National Park) in Western Australia’s Kimberley. There are these amazing beehive formations as far as the eye can see. The creek bed is gouged out by the torrents during the wet season. We spent a day walking up this gorge and constantly stunned by the amazing scenery around every turn. / I was thrilled to be featured in the Outback Australia group.
The Bungle Bungles in Western Australia are spectacular bee hive looking formations. / Accessed via Mayble Downs Station the drive in is a couple of hours by 4wd.Caravan cannot access this location. / Without doubt in my mind it is equal to IIlura as a natural feature of Australia.

A sunrise at the Bunle Bungles in the Kimberly WA Austalia
I took this image from a helicopter ride over the Bungle Bungle range in Western Australia, shooting was facilitated by the lack of doors. This is about as late in the afternoon as you can go, or else it falls into shadow, Taken with a Mamiya 645 with 45mm f2.8 lens. 1/500 @ f5.6 on Provia 100F. First image posted to the landscape group, hope you like it.

A reflection in the pool of water at the end of Cathedral Gorge in Purnululu National Park, Western Australia. The reflection shows part of the steep orange-colored rock walls leading into the gorge. The ripples were the result of tossing a small stone into the water. [Wikipedia entry] / Copyright © 2007 Brian W. Schaller – All rights reserved. The Bungle Bungles in Western Australia would have to be Australias best natural feature. / The reason it it is not the the most popular land feature already is due be due to the 2hr hard 4wd drive journey required to travel through Marbel Downs Station to get to the site, and caravans cannot access this track. / Mind you the drive in itself is a great 4wd pleasure with twists, turns, dips views all the way.
