The Plaza Monumental de Barcelona is a bullring in Barcelona, Catalonia (Spain). Built in 1914 and originally called The Plaza de Sport, it was enlarged in 1916 and renamed “Monumental”. It is currently the only place in Barcelona where bullfights are performed. Besides bullfighting events, the Monumental is often the scene of musical events and circuses. Located in the town centre on Boulevard Victor Hugo, Nimes, France. It is one of the best preserved Roman Amphitheatres, especially the upper part. Built around 70AD, it is 2 stories high with 60 arches in each floor and has 124 exits. Nowadays it is used for bullfights and other public events. / I love how it blends so beautifully with the town around it. Featured in Historic Landmarks Of Europe group, RedBubble, May 2009
