Miniature Christmas lights in macro. /

On a recent expedition, Magoo2 and I discovered this old rail tunnel in the Lincolnshire Wolds – which was no mean feat,- we had the nettle stings, mud scrapes and bruises [from being whacked by various tree branches during our ‘controlled descent’ of the overgrown gulley] to prove it! The tunnel seems to be Victorian, from the steeply vaulted roof, and is ‘faced and lined’ with higher grade materials [for show] at each end but bellies out to a larger bore built of red brick further in. There’s no trickery with this one, only ambient light and a ‘star effect’ courtesy of an f8 aperture.

I felt this had a very alien feel, with the veins in the petals…

I love the dreamy effect, that the wind created on these tulips. Photographed in Keukenhof, Netherlands.

My husband’s paternal grandmother, Tootsie, died at the age of 95. She had a sound mind and sound body and an enduring love for gardening, something she cultivated till she breathed her last. Before she died, she gave her grandchildren amaryllis bulbs and to this day, many many years after her passing on, we still have the fruits of her labors. This is one of Tootsie’s amaryllis bulbs that is about to burst into bloom, many springs after her death.

I like to keep flowers as long as possible – just in case …. / This one was worth the wait I think – faded and drooping over the side of a white vase. / / / Click to view by category / / Fractal Images / Images from Nature HDR Images Flower Portraits Night/Low Light Images Architectural Images Landscape Images Infrared Images / / / Random Images / /

Can anything look more beautiful than flowers kissed by the rain?

Further inside… No self respecting abandoned tunnel would be without an eerie dripping sound,- Benniworth even has stalactites. I wanted a slightly more abstract composition for this one, so decided to concentrate on the vaulted ceiling and exclude the ground altogether.

Just a couple of spring tulips in the garden of our hold house. Cropped and adjusted for colour, deepening of shadows in the background.
