Long Beach Island, NJ / www.danadipasquale.com This shack has been near my childhood home since I can remember. It falls a little more every year, and recently was supposed to be torn down. Collaboration with Gretchen worked for NIRVANA challenge – December’09 Crossing light invites / another side. Rising / toward a window. / exposing out to in, / our shadow moves / amongst stories… / every level a unique purpose. / sliding down rails… / ... climbing up stairs ( 29.12.2009 ) Caught with Viral fever and resting at home, my temptation to work on doesn’t end. Presenting one more work on light :) This one I sighted few days back when I was li’l resting in Naval Civilian Housing Colony’s rest house. As I left the room way back I thought it might be a good !dea :)) I preferred to post B&W conversion for this. Sure I’m not gonna tempt for color. I have reprocessed this image to add some LIGHT :) Hope everyone will enjoy!! Reposted ( 07.05.2009 ). Equipment : Canon EOS 400D, Canon EF S 10 – 22mm lens. Hand held.

TAKEN AROUND THE MIDDLE OF DECEMBER 2008 WHEN VENICE FLOODED QUITE SEVERELY UP TO AROUND KNEE HEIGHT ALL THROUGH ST MARK’S SQUARE . THE WHOLE PLACE WAS LIKE A SWIMMING POOL!!! IT WAS SO COLD AND TOURISTS HAD NO WHERE TO GO BUT USING THE WOODEN PLATFORM WALKWAYS. IT WAS REALLY SURREAL. THIS PHOTO WAS TAKEN IN THE AFTERNOON WHEN ALOT OF THE TOURISTS HAD GONE. /

I took a bucketload of shots like this in the space of about 15 minutes on my way to work one winter morning. I’d never seen fog in 25 years of living in Japan and there was no way I could miss work that morning. Fortunately I had to pass through a park and just kept taking shots until I could delay no longer. I arrived at school with about a minute to spare!

Suisinish is an abandoned village reached after a rough hour- long walk from Kilbride, near Torrin, Isle of Skye. / This old cottage is too modern to have been one of the dwellings where the folk were evicted to make way for the sheep, which were more profitable to the greedy landowners of the time. Many of the families were separated, and forced to emigrate to America, Canada, and Australia. / I cannot begin to feel their anguish. / There are many ruins scattered around the Brae (hillside), evidence of a thriving, close-knit community torn apart by human greed. Maybe this bulding was built early in the twentieth century, I have no idea and can find no information. / Back to the present….. / There was quite a wait for some usable light, a chilly fierce wind was blowing, rain was brewing, nothing new ! We sat in the shelter of one of those deserted ruins, eating a cheese piece, ( sandwich ) and a cheering cup of hot coffee from the thermos, reflecting on how ‘they’ lived then, compared to us nowadays, and watching the sheep that are now the only inhabitants of this beautiful place. / Rowan trees were planted in the belief they kept evil spirits away, and it is considered very bad luck to cut one down, even today ! This cottage is surrounded by them, I guess the magic didn’t work. A three shot HDR. CanonEOS 40D mounted on tripod, iso 100, auto wb, f22, RAW files converted in Photomatix, and touched up in Adobe CS3. / A little Orton also applied to ‘pop’ the texture of the stone. / A slight vignette added.
