  • A couple of shots of the Harbour Bridge. I got to work a bit early, so I took the oportunity to take a few shots of the Sunrise over Sydney. Unfortunately the Sun was nowhere to be seen. I still think they came out alright. Please also visit my website alexkess.com and my photoblog . Cheers and Thanks, Alex

  • This town died when the railway that / sustained its existence re-routed. / An eerie ghost town with faded shop fronts / and a host of photographic possibilities - / especially during a stormy sunset – / draping life over this faded facade and (almost) / lifeless town. / Terowie SA 2007 / Made famous as the town where Gen Douglas MacArthur gave his “I shall return” speech on March 20th 1942 at the railway siding – a rest stop on his way by train from Darwing to Adelaide. (Visit the plaque on the deserted platform) Taken on a three day trip from Barossa to Broken Hill to Mildura looking for typical australiana to grace the 2008 CoolDrive calendar. /

  • An old ruin in Berlin Spandau (Germany)...

  • Strapped on the side of this abandoned ship works is a tiny little tin plate annex used to cover a set of emergency stairs and pipework from the various sinks and toilets around the building.

  • An office building in Gdansk (Poland)...

  • The Golden Gate At Night

  • Every morning I go in to work and take the same route, that is, walk from the bus stop, go up the same flight of stairs and walk down the same hallway to get to my office. And every morning from that hallway window, I see this very building and pretty much every day (unless it’s a pretty grim day or raining) I think about how pretty the reflections of the clouds and sun really look (is it obvious yet that very simple things make me happy?). So it is pretty obvious that this would eventually make it as one of my photos. Needless to say that I have adjusted the contrast levels to make it a little more dramatic but bottom line, it’s just a picture of the building across the street …

  • A curbside growth of moss with a touch of industrial paint in Hiroshima, Japan.

  • I took this on holiday in Scotland. I liked the contrast of the Urban style man made object and building site being layered onto the natural Scottish mountains.

  • In memory of Julius Shulman .....the buildings of my city bow in respect. /

  • I was taken (almost against my will) to Victorian University of Technology in Footscray, Melbourne where one of my friend’s needed to make an appearance at their Open Day, of which she was involved in the planning. I spotted this set of stairs and railings on the way back to the car. Suddenly the trip there was all worthwhile :) It was an overcast day and lighting was poor, but with the help of level tweaking, a blue filter and a dash of contrast, this grey concrete was looking a lot more fire ravaged. Featured in Rustic / Featured in Around The World All processing was done between 10pm and 12am Canon SX100IS / f3.5, 1/125, ISO 100 MCN: C7E9A-3DADB-2259D

  • City Hall. London. / The weird shape of this building looks to me like some giant has pushed the circles or layers to one side. Camera Nikon D700 with 24-120mm Lense. HDR from five exposures of the same image in one step intervals from -2 to +2. / /
