Hanseatic City of Lübeck, ‘Gate to the Baltic’ founded in 1143 and declared a city as early as 1226, was Germany’s second largest medieval city. It was declared a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in 1987. Its Old Town with approximately 1800 listed buildings is a true paradise (not only) for a photographer. You can see the world-famous Holstentor (Holsten Gate), Lübeck’s landmark, in the background of the photograph.

This is a photograph of the city of London by night, it has an amazing range of colours with strong reds and blues from this evening light. The photo was taken from the South Bank of the river thames in the centre of the city of London and shows the financial heart of the English capitol. We can see the city of Westminster also simply called ‘the City’ from St Pauls on the left to the Geherkin on the right and the NatWest Tower or No. 42 in between. At the front of the image is the river Thames and Blackfriers bridge which seem to fram the image against the deep blue sky. This stikeing photograph is one of favourites and it really shows the beauty and calmness that can be found even in the most built up of urban areas.
