Since global warming activists predict a dramatic change of the planet’s surface in the nearest future, the Ice Age Premonition portrays our society in the new Ice Age. / Ice Age – A cold period marked by episodes of extensive glaciations alternating with episodes of relative warmth. Any geologic period during which thick ice sheets cover vast areas of land. Such periods of large-scale glaciations may last several million years and drastically reshape surface features of entire continents. A number of major ice ages have occurred throughout the Earth’s history; the most recent periods were during the Pleistocene Epoch. There have been at least four major ice ages in the Earth’s past. The wonderful little normandy port of Honfleur in France at the mouth of the river Seine.(it’s best viewed LARGE for detail). To access by boat you tie up and wait for them to close the road, lift up the bridge pass through a loch and this is what awaits !(I had the good fortune to be a lastminute stand in crew on a wonderful yacht recently… huge happy sailor grins … :)))) It’s an absolutely stunning place with its rich artistic and historical heritage wonderfully preserved! It is also the place from which a Samuel de Champlain left in 1608 for the ’ New World’ and he went on to found the city of Quebec and 400th anniversary celebrations are currently underway… I might have wished to capture all sail boats in this wonderful settting… but took comfort from the fact that everyone on that huge motor launch had to take their shoes off at the door to protect the carpets ..teehee! A tops’l schooner has been wrecked ashore in shallow water, in the North East coal harbour of Cullercoats, circa1880’s. Most winter’s saw at least one sailing ship wrecked at the mouth of the river Tyne. A Victorian photo from my priceless book, was used for the painting. Watercolour and HB pencil drawing. 12” x 8”.

Took a little trip to Sydney this weekend. Dropped the boys with Nan & Pop and I went and did the tourist thing. Would you believe that on Saturday I walked across the Sydney Harbour Bridge for the first time! Had to get the major tourist icons in infrared…of course. Exposure: 25sec

This series of panaramas was taken with a handmade camera using 120 film. The eccentric nature of the image is probably down to the eccentric nature of the camera! My father made it for me out of painted panels of MDF and a bit of twiddling …. oh and really nice Mamiya 1:6.3, 65mm lens. This is one of my favourite driveby images in the city hub. Its looking back towards the city and at the Redfern Housing Commission Blocks at the back edge of Redfern and Surry Hills. If you look really closely you will see a tiny little Centrepoint Tower next to the smallest of the tower blocks. Just over to the right of that in the sky is a tiny little dot which is actally a helicopter flying a huge Aussie flag. Because of the size and quality of the negative, if this was blown up to mural size you would be able to see the all the details on the flag and the helicopter. I would estimate this negative to be the equivent of around 250-300 megapixels. Film will never die! The colour balance is what happened when I scanned it and I love it . It seems to suit the other worldly sense of place in this image. I hope you guys like it too. Below is a thumbnail of some Dad’s camera’s His camera always produced much better photo ’s technically than mine but I maintain that the mistakes I made with mine made for a more interesting image :) /
