The old Stiglitz Hotel sits at the top of a gravel track looking down on the old wooden bridge. Stiglitz is a historic gold mining town near Geelong.
A window of an traditional country farm cottage in Ireland. Nice whitewashed wall on this shot..
The sun sets on this old house, in more ways than one. I believe it shall soon be no more, it’s life given for a a new housing estate. No-one lives there now, but soon there’ll be hundreds of little blocks with little houses and not-so-little morgages!
Sometimes when you travel to the country or a rural area you feel like you’ve gone back in time. Technology and mod-cons evaporate as you pass into the sparsly spaced places in-between. Stepping off the highway, here were dirt roads, decayed buildings, and the mistrustful glances from locals. I asked where we were. The only person who could speak english replied couldn’t really say but just “on the way to somewhere else”.
Old dilapidated barn with rustic red doors. This old barn will be torn down sometime this month. Someone in the neighborhood complained that it was an “eye sore”.... so sad! Image was redone for me in HDR by Kimberly Palmer.
BETTER VIEWED LARGER There are many townships in Australia that feature grand sandstone buildings, but in Hill End the buildings that remain are the remnants of the gold rush. Here the wooden fences are protected from repair and are part of the historic townships character. Thankfully protected . Here the sunrise catches the landscape with recently snow cover. Morning light hits trees in the National Park that surrounds the Historic Gold Mining Village of Hill End 3 1/2 hours drive from Sydney For those visiting Sydney , free some time to travel west of Sydney, you will experience the wonders of National Parks and World Heritage areas, old gold mining towns, old towns . And vineyards and wonderous scenery that is the true Australian landscape. Hill End NSW / In October 1872 the Star of Hope Gold Mining Co. uncovered what was, at the time, the world’s largest specimen of reef gold. ‘Holtermann’s Nugget’, as it was known, weighed 286 kg and measured 150 cm by 66 cm with an average thickness of 10 cm. That week alone, over 700 kilograms of gold were carted / away from Hill End by the gold escort. In all the amount of gold extracted at Hill End was greater than any goldfield in NSW other than Canbelego / VIEW THE HILL END HDR SERIES / Hill End – HDR Series Series

In the style of J. Edgar Mitchell (1871-1922). / A north-east painter. Watercolour, and highlights of white gouache. I painted this in my class at the Shipley Art Gallery, in Gateshead. 140lb, hand-made, Two Rivers, watercolour paper. 16” x 11”
This was shot in Arlington, WA. One of my favorite pics and the most featured, viewed and favorited of my works here on RedBubble. Thank you! / Using Photoshop, I adjusted the levels and saturation to bring out the colors. Three separate images were composited: old barn ruins, rainbow with tree and clouds. Clone stamped out a telephone wire as well. Trying something new, experimenting with my images in the Orton Style. Shot this with my Kodak Easy Share point & shoot camera. Brought it into Photoshop and added layers and different blending options as well as blur and sharpen. This was taken in Port Hope Michigan, I loved the old feel to this place, but for some reason b/w just wasn’t giving it the feel I wanted, so I played around with it a bit and came up with this..I like it..hope you do too. Nikon D90 / 18-200mm VR Lens
It was a wrong turn down a dirt road, you had a bad feeling as you traveled down it..no houses in sight, finally you come across a old rickety building, you have to stop because you are so lost. / As you walk up to the door you can feel someone watching you, everything in you is screaming turn around..RUN..you climb the stairs and knock..a bit of relief settles in when no one answers, as you turn around to head back to your car, the door flies open behind you and you are thrown into a living hell. Alone, she prays for her chance to escape, he’s had her held here for what seems like months..she keeps going back to that day she was snatched from her world, it was a beautiful day, she took that short walk through the woods to the little lake that she has come to since she was a little girl, not knowing the evil that was lurking and watching, and now she’s here, held against her will..his prisoner.. she lays down on the dirt floor, closes her eyes and escapes to her dreams..the dreams of being Anywhere BUT here. Nikon D90 / 18-200 mm VR Lens I do believe this is actually farmers quarters, there were 3 of these houses right next to each other.
He felt it as soon as he walked in the house..THE EVIL..yet one look at his new brides face wiped that feeling away..she loved it, and all he wanted to do is please her, and please her he did when she turned to him with “I Love it” on her lips..he turned to the real estate agent and said “We’ll take it”...from that day his world was turned upside down..The voices started not long after moving day, telling him that “she was no good” his beautiful wife…convincing him he would be better without her..whispering those terrible things he should do to “Fix” her..Now he sits at the top of the stairs looking down at the bottom where she lays crumbled and not moving..flashes of remembrance coming in and out..her running with him on her heals, screaming for her to “come back”...her slipping..reaching for him, tumbling..and now all he can hear is the voices again..claiming him, he knows now he is forever here in this evil house..IN ITS GRIP.. New to the neighborhood Jimmy knew he had to do the dare, or life would be hell, he never should have played the stupid Truth or Dare game, but he went along any way, wanting to just fit in. Being new he didn’t know the stories that were told about this place.. He told himself “Man Up, its only 15 minutes in a old abandoned house“..as he climbed the stairs he could feel the goosebumps on his arms raise..he opened the door and walked in..the door slammed shut behind him…screaming he ran to the door..pulling..yanking ..the door wouldn’t budge, he could hear the kids outside laughing and mocking him..all he could think about is getting the hell out of there, he didn’t care anymore about fitting in…the silence in the house was deafening, it hurt his head and ears..then he saw it ..pure hell floating towards him..at first he couldn’t move his legs for what seemed like forever, he finally got his footing and headed straight for the window, no thoughts of the glass that would shatter around him and cut him to shreds ..just the need to be out of here..jumping through the window he landed hard knocking the wind from his lungs….his eyes fluttered open, the fog of his brain clearing, relief spreading through him as he realized he was on his bedroom floor..a dream..thank god just a dream..still shaken he picked himself off the floor, then he heard the laughter, as he turned he seen the faces of those neighborhood kids..dead eyes..melting faces….TRUTH OR DARE Jimmy?? He left her laying on the floor on a dirty mattress, the place he left her every night, the place he told her to / now call “Home” as he walked away from her, the hatred streaming through her veins made her snap, she wouldn’t go down like this, she called out to him, “Don’t Leave”, turning eyeing her suspiciously, he walked back to her, not knowing she had found her weapon earlier that day, a brick in the corner under some cardboard, behind her back she gripped it with one hand, the other hand reaching out to him, as he drew close she brought the brick down hard on the side of his head..down he went….she ran towards the door slamming it shut..,,finally she was free!!! She didn’t know which way to run, she just ran..as she rounded the corner.. to her utter relief parked not 20 ft from her was a police car..screaming..running she now knew she was safe..in no time she would be back home..”Her Home” she drew closer seeing him getting out of his car approaching her, she ran..throwing herself in the safety of his open arms..crying..”there..there now..your safe” he said ..she stiffened..knowing that voice..No it can’t be!!! She looked up right into the eyes of her worst nightmare..Him..he looked down, kissed her forhead “ wrapped his arms tightly around her waist..Now sweetie lets go back HOME.. Nikon D90 / 18-200 mm VR Lens Went on the inner part of the grain elevator today and got this shot (no one around on Sundays)
I live in a big farming community, there are Grain Elevators in just about every neighboring town, all of them are different, and make for excellent pictures..Taken in Pigeon Michigan. Nikon D90 / 18-200 mm VR Lens /
