It falls a little more every year, and recently was supposed to be torn down. This ruin just outside Burra in South Australia was made famous as the cover art of Midnight Oil’s classic 1986 album Diesel and Dust / While there are many ruins in this area – the gateway to the outback – this oneis the most photogenic due to its classic shape and relative completeness. The rolling hills in the background also make for a picturesque scene. Just don’t be tempted to jump the fence as an ominous “No Trespassing” sign leaves you in no doubt this is an inhospitable area not only for the original settlers, but pesky tourists as well, especially those with cameras!

Whilst competing in a Rogaine in SW Western Australia my mate and I stumbled upon a deserted farmhouse and out buildings. Because we were camping overnight in roughly the same area I managed to get back the next morning to get a few shots. I only hope I can find my way back there as there are lots of shots to be made.

Just lately I’ve been having a nice time posting all sorts of random things for all sorts of distracted reasons and thats been lots of fun. But time to run another series across the screens of bubbleland…..and that can only mean Infrared images are coming up. I love the dark and mysterious light that can be inticed into being with B/W infrared film…. and yes all my IR work is done the old fashioned way with film….. Kodak High Speed Infrared film to be exact. This particular series was shot in Sydney some years ago at the old Reschs site on Lachlan Street as it was being demolished to make way for a new housing development in the inner city. I was fascinated with the destruction of all the old buildings and how the hidden backs of structures of were revealed by the rolling waves of demolition. This urban landscape of ruined reality and brand new dreams set in the piles of rubble took on a profoundly mysterious atmosphere and became a landscape setting suitable for colonization by the imagination…...hence the title of the series…..Landscape for Orson Wells….. this one is the first and its the very corner of a building that no longer exists…. except in this photo…..... so it can now be a building anywere you fancy it to be and it can signify any thing that you the viewer would like it to mean…....

Inside the old derelict stable i found at the weekend, seems to have been a shelter for sheep, judging by the amount of sheep droppings were inside!!

An old barn of a derelict farm, that looks like its been used for hanging!! the ropes were swinging in the wind that was howling through, slates were scattered everywhere from the strong winds, quite a eerie feeling in here, would’nt want to be here in the dark!
