Hadleigh Castle, on a hill overlooking the Thames Estuary, near Benleet in Essex, is now a ruin. / The construction of the castle began in 1230. It was built for Hubert de Burgh, who had been Chief Justiciar to King John and had acted as regent for the young King Henry III. Hubert’s relationship with the young Henry did not remain amicable and Henry confiscated Hadleigh Castle. By tradition the tenants were usually the king’s consort, most notably belonging to three of King Henry VIII’s wives – Catherine of Aragon, Anne of Cleves and Catherine Parr. In 1551, King Edward VI sold the property, allowing its stone to be used for other building projects.
This was the kitchen of my childhodd home. Burnt out, roof collapsed. It felt like the Movie TITANIC when I was shooting here. My mind was flashing to the past and back to the present.

The old Hotel lounge area, the fire surround has been removed, but undamaged, it is lying on the floor, you can just see the bottom corner in the picture, i did try to put it back up for the shot but it was too damn heavy for me on my own!
A real fixer-upper
When I first saw this tumbled down church the words on the wall read – Jesus the same yesterday, today and forever. Hebrews 13v6. Now even those words are fading but Jesus is the same. It is strange that the door should still be standing
This is the remains of the old amusment area of Asbury Park beach. Once a premire attraction on the New Jersey shore. It’s a empty shell now, the area has changed so much. It needs an infusion of money to revitalize this lovely beach area and make it once again a place to go.

This is one of a number of old buildings now crumbling into disrepair to be found in the valley between Keld and Muker in Swaledale – Yorkshire.
Various layers including the Seddon Railway Station, a ruined building in Blenheim, and two texture layers.
This dilapidated old building (contructed almost entirely of corrugated iron and presently rusting away in a forgotten paddock) used to be the hub of the community. This is where, as 10 year olds, we used to learn ballroom dancing, scottish country dancing and square dancing. It was pretty old and grotty way back then, and has since deteriorated to the stage where you probably couldnt dance in it without falling through the floorboards. / This pic, taken on my trusty old Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ5 has been layered with a lovely old grungy background. Hadrian’s Villa (Villa Adriana in Italian) is a large Roman archaeological complex at Tivoli, Italy. (Source: Wikipedia) Emperor Hadrian was the third of the “Five Good Emperors”. Though when life in the palace was too much for him, he needed a place to retreat. He therefore had a villa built in Tivoli as his retreat from Rome; though eventually he began governing the Roman empire from the villa. Taken on October 10, 2008 / Tivoli, Italy On this day we first visited Villa d’Este: It was a very rainy day and was rather glum by the time we got to the Villa. This photo is an edited version of this: / / / When we arrived we first took shelter and our prof gave us a lecture: Then a cat that somehow got in ran through my legs: And eventually many people (including myself :P) were looking at the cat instead of listening to the lecture lol.
This photo was taken at Burrumbeet on the Western Highway about 20kms out of Ballarat in victoria. These Historical old ruins were formerley Stables that were used by the Cob & Co company..
Some places have just run their time. Hotels, places filled with emotions mostly fear — mostly fools drowning in beer — awash with stories; a tsunami of trials and tribulation, laughter and conflict now ghosts within these walls — conquests and losses, drowning sorrows and wishful tomorrows. The empire has fallen. ~ As a Matted print… ~ Original photograph of the now derelict and abandoned Empire Hotel, Newcastle (NSW, Aust)
Why doesn’t everything turn yellow for a change? That would be fine.
