Revisiting the former Operations Room of the now-abandoned Red Cliff Radar Station. The concrete ceiling in most sections has all but collapsed, letting the elements in through the naked rebar. The Red Cliff Radar Station was installed to track the movements of aircraft sighted and transmitted speed, altitude, and heading information to a direction centre. • This collection of Urban Landscapes is drawn from a larger body of work called Darkscapes. They are moody evocative invitations into mystery and imagination taken from the ordinary things that make up the fabric of city life. Beauty is all around us if only we take the time to notice it. We all look but maybe we don’t all see. This collection of images is a way for me to share what I see with others. I really hope that you enjoy them.

  • Completed in 1853 the Old Rockbank Inn was an important stop over for many people heading to the gold fields of Ballarat. When the gold ran out so did the need for the Inn. • Whilst on my trip to Jersey, I took an afternoon to roam the moor covered headland around Grosnez castle in the channel island of Jersey. This is one of my favourite places to visit. It is such a wonderful place to sit and think and to just take in the scenery. There are some fabulous walks / trails around here, and with the whole area blanketed with heather, the colour and fragrance is mesmerising. The name means the “grey headland” from the old Norse words “grar nes”. It was built around 1330 on the orders of Sir John des Roches, from a long lineage of Knights. It is protected on three of the sides by natural defences, features of the landscape. The high cliffs and rough seas make it impossible to attack from the sea. The the front was protected by a ditch. The castle was built with granite quarried locally, in St. John’s. I have more photos of this lovely castle, so i will share more info about this beautiful place. This is a HDR image combining 5 bracketed shots, using Photomatix Pro for Macs, and adjusting some tones and lighting in Enhance Details as part of Tone Mapping.
