This shack has been near my childhood home since I can remember. It falls a little more every year, and recently was supposed to be torn down. But, the residents of the area rallied to get it declared a landmark because it was such a part of the way we recognized home. So I love this little guy. © Dana DiPasquale 2008. The image has been created as an alternative to the popular and greatly exaggerated theory of global warming and its consequences. Since global warming activists predict a dramatic change of the planet’s surface in the nearest future, the Ice Age Premonition portrays our society in the new Ice Age. / Ice Age – A cold period marked by episodes of extensive glaciations alternating with episodes of relative warmth. Any geologic period during which thick ice sheets cover vast areas of land. Such periods of large-scale glaciations may last several million years and drastically reshape surface features of entire continents. A number of major ice ages have occurred throughout the Earth’s history; the most recent periods were during the Pleistocene Epoch. There have been at least four major ice ages in the Earth’s past. The last glacial period ended about ten thousand years ago. / Surrealism art prints / Digital art prints / Fantasy digital art wallpapers

This ruin just outside Burra in South Australia was made famous as the cover art of Midnight Oil’s classic 1986 album Diesel and Dust / While there are many ruins in this area – the gateway to the outback – this oneis the most photogenic due to its classic shape and relative completeness. The rolling hills in the background also make for a picturesque scene. Just don’t be tempted to jump the fence as an ominous “No Trespassing” sign leaves you in no doubt this is an inhospitable area not only for the original settlers, but pesky tourists as well, especially those with cameras!

Whilst competing in a Rogaine in SW Western Australia my mate and I stumbled upon a deserted farmhouse and out buildings. Because we were camping overnight in roughly the same area I managed to get back the next morning to get a few shots. I only hope I can find my way back there as there are lots of shots to be made.

A great turnout of Redbubblers met at Gladesville Mental Hospital this morning for some photo opportunities – this is a little nook in one of the delapidated buildings. Thanks to Philip and Kaz for organising the day. Gladesville Mental Hospital (formerly Tarban Creek Lunatic Asylum) operated from c.1838- Surviving records cover c.1822-1985 In 1838 the lunatic asylum was moved from Liverpool to Tarban Creek, Gladesville and the first patients were transferred from Liverpool Asylum and the Female Factory, Parramatta. It accepted patients from Victoria up until 1848 when the Yarra Bend asylum was opened. By the mid 1960s the institution was known simply as Gladesville Hospital. In 1993 premises at Gladesville Hospital and Macquarie Hospital were revoked as hospitals, and were amalgamated to form the Gladesville Macquarie Hospital. again melrose, south australia A friend of mine challenged me on my Australiana revisionism (in a good way) , because of him I want to take the time to explain myself . . . . . . . . . .as a very infamous Australian ( Pauline) would demand. . . . . . . . . . . . in between dance moves of course (sorry for the very blatant and gratuitous Australianism!). . . . . . . If you have seen any of my recent Australiana-revision images, you will know that I’ve been in mad scientist/experimental mode and I want to test myself to see how far I can take this idea. So any constructive critique you have the time to give me is a blessing…........................ Otherwise you will have to put up with my mad experiments (insert mad scientist laugh here) on an ongoing basis, like the person smiling with spinach on their teeth!!!! Lol. Anyway. This image I tried to keep the background hills and distance (horizon) as simple as possible. Sky, I think should always be exciting so its got s**t loads going on. Foreground, mmm still not sure…........ But the building I wanted to be ALIVE!!! Its a ruin they pepper the countryside here but as a deceased building its still full of character and to me, character is life , I wanted this to burst out! It was an awesome place to visit and get lost in So there you are / my thoughts / my experiment I would be really pleased to hear yours. . . .

Just lately I’ve been having a nice time posting all sorts of random things for all sorts of distracted reasons and thats been lots of fun. But time to run another series across the screens of bubbleland…..and that can only mean Infrared images are coming up. I love the dark and mysterious light that can be inticed into being with B/W infrared film…. and yes all my IR work is done the old fashioned way with film….. Kodak High Speed Infrared film to be exact. This particular series was shot in Sydney some years ago at the old Reschs site on Lachlan Street as it was being demolished to make way for a new housing development in the inner city. I was fascinated with the destruction of all the old buildings and how the hidden backs of structures of were revealed by the rolling waves of demolition. This urban landscape of ruined reality and brand new dreams set in the piles of rubble took on a profoundly mysterious atmosphere and became a landscape setting suitable for colonization by the imagination…...hence the title of the series…..Landscape for Orson Wells….. this one is the first and its the very corner of a building that no longer exists…. except in this photo…..... so it can now be a building anywere you fancy it to be and it can signify any thing that you the viewer would like it to mean…....

Old Sheldon Church, is a historic ruin located in Garden Corner, SC The majestic outline of the old Sheldon Church stands deep in the forest and has lain in ruin for more than 120 years. Its One of the first Greek-Revival structures built in the United States, Prince William’s Parish Church, erected 1745-55, was once one of the most impressive churches in the Province. During the Revolution, the Patriots are believed to have stored gun powder in it. In 1779, when the British General Augustine Prevost invaded the Lowcountry, the church was burned by a detachment which according to tradition, was commanded by the flamboyant local Tory, Andrew Deveaux. Rebuilt in 1826, the church was again burned by Sherman’s men in 1865. The ruins are nevertheless a picturesque site from which the visitor can visualize the grandeur of the pre-Revolutionary church.
