Pantheon,is a building in Rome which was originally built as a temple to “all the gods” of Ancient Rome. perhaps the best preserved building of its age in the world.Since the 7th century, the Pantheon has been used as a Christian church The Pantheon is currently the oldest standing domed structure in Rome. / The only natural light enters through an unglazed oculus at the center of the dome and through the bronze doors to the portico. Angled shot taken inside the Anglican Cathedral in Liverpool. Really enjoy finding new angles and views within this building and its a great place to practice my photography. / . / Spent a lot of time with the position and cropping of this image to produce the desired look. / . / Your comments always help. / . / ste / . / Location: The Lady Chapel / . / The first part of the Cathedral to be completed and consecrated for worship was the Lady Chapel. The style of this lovely Chapel, which stands at the far south east corner of the Cathedral, is more elaborate than the main body of the Cathedral in a way which reflects its date and the influence of G F Bodley who was, at that time, working with the Cathedral architect.

St. Francis of Assisi in Santa Fe Sitting in the center of the town square in Santa Fe, New Mexico stands the St. Francis of Assisi Church. Built between the years of 1869-1886, it sits on an earlier site of a church built in 1626. This was a REALLY hard shotto pull off as the town center square is filled with people so I had to act quickly. I fired off 3 brackets handheld for the HDR and metered at the bricks on teh church…hoping this was going to work….I think it did. The Cathedral Church of Christ, Sir Giles Gilbert Scott’s masterpiece, is built on St. James’ Mount and is visible from miles around: “a visible witness for God in the midst of the great city”. / . / The decision to build was taken under the leadership of Bishop Francis James Chavasse, second Bishop of Liverpool, in the summer of 1901. / . / After an open competition, a design by an unknown 22-year-old architect was chosen. In 1904 King Edward VII laid the Foundation Stone in the presence of 7,000 people. Building began at the East end and, by means of a series of temporary walls, the whole building moved towards completion. / . / In 2007 Steve Williams photographed the building before editing the image to produce a detailed and daunting view of this magnificent example of architecture. The root of the word is ʼḏn “to permit”, and another derivative of this word is uḏun, meaning “ear.” This is the minaret of Kairouyine mosque in Fes. Shot Thoughts & Background Info—- Fairmont Cemetery in Denver is one of my all time favorite places to shoot at, especially during the Autumn months. It is quite old with headstones dating to when Denver was barely even a city. Quite massive in size, many of the structures contained within it are fascinating examples of architectural style. For this shot, I really wanted something different, so when I was shooting it I made sure to use my Minolta 18-200 DT lens so I could go ultra wide and capture as much as I could I had an idea already in my head for the post work, and for the most part I think it works as I had planned. I really wanted something moody, heavy on the atmosphere, that provoked thought in people when they saw it. Something that made them stop and think for a second. HDR Processed. Church in Avranches, Normandy, France. Picture taken with Sony R1 which is ideal if you forgot your tripod. The camera can be placed on the ground in an angle and the top mounted LCD allows you to check the composition. Can’t beat with a DSLR. Avranches is situated at the southern end of the Cotentin Peninsula on the E40 road connecting Saint-Lô with Brittany and on the rail line between Lison (linking to Caen) and Dol (linking to Rennes). The town was founded on high ground overlooking the dunes and coastal marshes along the bay forming the corner between the peninsulas of the Cotentin and Brittany. From Avranches, it is possible to see the Mont Saint Michel, which was founded by Saint Aubert, Bishop of Avranches in the 8th century. A museum houses the collection of manuscripts of Mont Saint Michel, deposited in the municipal archives during the French Revolution. It is one of the largest collections of medieval illuminated manuscripts in France, outside national and university libraries. Formerly dominated by the cathedral, where Henry II did penance, an open grassed area La Plate-Forme overlooking the bay towards Mont Saint Michel displays only a few remnants of the destroyed building. The major church Notre Dame des Champs was constructed in Gothic Revival style in the 19th century to restore the religious life of the town after the destruction of the cathedral. A smaller church Saint Gervais houses a treasury, best known for the purported skull of Saint Aubert complete with hole where the archangel Michael’s finger pierced it (probably a prehistoric trepanned skull). The botanical gardens were founded in the grounds of the former Franciscan convent in the late 18th century. The expansion and introduction of exotic species in the 19th century and the location of the gardens overlooking the bay made the gardens an important sight in the town. / / / / Have a look at my other photos.
