This building facade is located in Port Melbourne, Victoria. What appeals to me about it is how the original alcoholic signage has been left, which I believe is for heritage reasons.

Seemingly ever watchful on the Venice’s Grand Canal these Gondolas seem to be on guard for income tourist as the morning mist starts to disappear in to the day.
Storm signals off the coast of Venice as I travel to my hotel in a water taxi and view one of the most memorable events of my trip white light coming through a wall of gray clouds creating a visual effect on a small island off of Venice.

The wonderful little normandy port of Honfleur in France at the mouth of the river Seine.(it’s best viewed LARGE for detail). To access by boat you tie up and wait for them to close the road, lift up the bridge pass through a loch and this is what awaits !(I had the good fortune to be a lastminute stand in crew on a wonderful yacht recently… huge happy sailor grins … :)))) It’s an absolutely stunning place with its rich artistic and historical heritage wonderfully preserved! It is also the place from which a Samuel de Champlain left in 1608 for the ’ New World’ and he went on to found the city of Quebec and 400th anniversary celebrations are currently underway… I might have wished to capture all sail boats in this wonderful settting… but took comfort from the fact that everyone on that huge motor launch had to take their shoes off at the door to protect the carpets ..teehee! One of biggest influence Red Bubble has had on my photography… is to look more at everything around you. We had just checked in to our hotel in downtown Phoenix and the first thing I always do is go look out the window. / I guess it is a need to see where I am in relation to everything and what do I get to look at for the next few days… / The first thing I see is this wonderful building that was coming alive as I stood there. It was starting sundown and the reflections were liike a motion picture as the colors were changing. Original digital photograph. Taken with a Sony Full HD 1080 Cyber Shot camera. One of my twins in front of the same building as seen in another one of my pictures titled, “Hideaway”. Considering the colors, I was trying to get a happy shot. However, he was upset because he wanted to go take pictures of a baby gopher with his own camera. I told him to just act as he felt and snapped this shot. Well, that is, after he said “This is the last one, Mom. Then I’m done”. Sometimes you have to let them call the shots. ;)
Pulled out of the archives from a while ago… A 3 exposure HDR in Photomatix software. This photo was taken with my old Canon 300D, I had a fair bit of trouble deciding what white balance to go with but I think it worked out ok. This image was taken on the same night as the following images: Click here for my other images of Melbourne

A remark often attributed to Napoleon (but perhaps more correctly to Alfred de Musset) calls the Piazza San Marco “The drawing room of Europe”. It is one of the few great urban spaces in a Europe where human voices prevail over the sounds of motorized traffic, which is confined to Venice’s waterways. It is the only urban space called a piazza in Venice; the others, regardless of size, are called campi. As the central landmark and gathering place for Venice, Piazza San Marco is extremely popular with tourists, photographers, and Venetian pigeons. The Piazza originated in the 9th century as a small area in front of the original St Mark’s Basilica. It was enlarged to its present size and shape in 1177, when the Rio Batario, which had bounded it to the west, and a dock, which had isolated the Doge’s Palace from the square, were filled in. The rearrangement was for the meeting of Pope Alexander III and the Emperor Frederick Barbarossa. The Piazza has always been seen as the centre of Venice. It was the location of all the important offices of the Venetian state, and has been the seat of the archbishopric since the 19th century. It was also the focus for many of Venice’s festivals. It is a greatly popular place in Italy even today. Nikon D100 camera Sigma 28/70 lens
Returned to this spot for a quick fish approaching sunset. With the cooler days of winter here the bream are starting to show up in large numbers. It’s not a bad view looking across the Nerang River towards the Hi-Rises of Surfers Paradise
CANON Digital IXUS 980 IS / Yorkshire, UK / Fountains Abbey was founded in 1132 following a dispute and riot at St Mary’s Abbey in York. Following the riot, thirteen monks were exiled and after unsuccessfully attempting to return to the early 6th century Rule of St Benedict, were taken into the protection of Thurstan, Archbishop of York. He provided them with a site in the valley of the River Skell. The enclosed valley had all the required materials for the creation of a monastery, providing shelter from the weather, stone and timber for building, and a running supply of water. The monks applied to join the Cistercian order in 1132. / The abbey operated for over 400 years, until 1539, when Henry VIII ordered the Dissolution of the Monasteries.
